What is it with Maclaren buggies?

Help!
I live abroad (in no Maclaren land)and have family coming out in a few days. On my last trip back to the UK I noticed that 90% of babies were being wheeled around in Maclaren pushchairs.
I fancy getting something lighter than our current heavy duty Graco travel system (DS now nearly 10 months) and am about to place my order with said family to bring over £57.99 Maclaren Triumph from Kiddicare.
Presumably the reason everyone uses them is that they are super-good?
Need to place order tonight so any advice MUCH appreciated.

Hi Chicca, They are great, extremely sturdy, reliable, well-made. The only complaint I have had with my Techno is the size of the area beneath the seat to store things. Aside from that, it's great. Everyone I know who has a Maclaren loves theirs. If you want a really lightweight one, you can get the Volo.

maclarens are fine and the fact that are so popular shows that they are a reliable buggy. i have had many buggies including several maclarens (sad buggyaholic i know) my mum who is my childminder use a maclaren triumph and says that it is a good pushchair, the only complaint is that it doesn't lay back very far, so for a younger child the quest would probably be better if they sleep in their buggy at anytime.

I have a Maclaren Vogue and i love it its great, easy and lightweight.

The are great. I my cousin has ruined 3 mothercare ones in her sons 3.5 yrs and Ive used 2 MacLaren ones. I must add that my son is 9mths older than hers and he broke the hood on 1st 1 so I just gave it to his nursery who are still using it!

My friend still uses hers from her almost 12yr old son!

Ive noticed on others the wheels wear quickly, not on MacLaren!

They are lightweight and manoeuvrable - except if you're on sand or cobbled streets. I wouldn't be without mine, but I hire one of those pneumatic three wheelers for the week when we go on our sandy beach cobbly street holidays!

I had a Maclaren for dd, then used it for ds. Must have walked hundreds of miles with it. Lighter than any buggy I've ever come across, and extremely brilliantly manoevrable. A couple of weeks ago it died. Dh had repaired it once, but this time it was a goner. I was so sad. Got another, not a maclaren. BIG mistake.

My maclaren quest is fine, although I don't exactly love it, ds seems very low down in it. But it is narrow, light, manoeuvrable and, crucially, folds up easily. We have no hall and only one room downstairs so space is a big thing for us (or not). ds is also happy to sleep in it.

But the brake is useless and it tips over really easily once ds is out of it. Wouldn't quickly transfer to anything else though.

Just to confuse the issue, i actually use a mamas and papas pulse, which is similar to the maclaren techno and only costs £80!

Damn - just read that they deliver in four days and the family are coming Saturday night. It's not worth it if I can't guarantee delivery!

I have a maclaren Triumph for ds2 & I love it!
He has been using it since he was around 5 months old & is still comfortable in it now (age 2)
It is lightweight, easy to steer, clicks into place when folded up & has a carry handle so that you can carry it over your sholder.
I had a mothercare alternative for ds1 & it was a nightmare!
The wheels had a mind of their own, you had to pull the clip over yourself to keep it in place when folded & it fell apart after a year or two!
The maclaren may have been a little more expensive, but is SO worth it!

Horses for courses ! In Italy you see 90% Peg Perego Plikos (Mamas and Papas). Our Maclaren has coped with ds, now 7, and dd(3), who hardly uses it now, but it does show signs of wear and the plastic bits aren't that robust.

my friend ha a maclaren pushchair 20 years old it is that is old en it bout time she got new i tell her lol!!!!

Contact Kiddicare anyway and tell them the urgency. Everything I have ordered with them has arrived really quickly. I did exactly the same as you and got my Mac Quest from Kiddicare and then my mum flew out with it for us as we are overseas too. I wouldn't be without it. Hope you get what you want.
