Double Buggy, Tandem or not to tandem, Help need advice!

I have a 2yo dd and due ds in August.

I am totally confussed by double buggy's and have no idea what to go for.

My dh thinks the Obaby Apex tandem is good because it's lightweight, cheap and folds up small.

Any advice?

Phil & Teds is one of the best there is. I have one and it is fab. They are pricey new but worth every penny. I got a bargain on ebay though.

Confuzzeled, during my pregnancy with DD3 I became almost legendary with my dithering over double buggies. I tried every single one on the market and end up buying a M&P Aria double. After 3 weeks with it, I had had enough and splashed out on a P&T. Best £370 I have ever spent. It is fab. I wouldn't even contemplate another double.

Lightweight does not = light to push. I was determined to avoid the P&T, but 6 months in, I caved. And, I love it.

Ours was a life-saver.
It was expensive, but I sold it in v battered condition for £180 on eBay three years later!

I've just gone for a Phil & Teds and I LOVE it. My DS is 2 and my baby is not due until Nov. I thought I may as well get some use out of the P&T now and buy it well in advance and I am so glad I did. I ruled out side by side buggies because hopefully my DS will walk most of the time when the baby is born and will only need the buggy when he is tired. I thought if I went for a side by side one I could end up with one side being very under-used!

I was surprised by how small the P&T folds up, and also how easy to push it was. Although heavier, its easier to push than DS in the Maclaren Techno which is what we have been using to date.

roomfor, i took a whole year to cave in to the p&t so wish i'd done it and 'enjoyed' it sooner! they are best double for siblings imo and i had several last year (doubles that is not siblings!)

fannybanjo · 12/05/2009 21:34

I have a 20 month old DD and 3.5 month old DD and it is fantastic how I can swap the P&T around to suit my needs. When DD3 needs to sleep she goes in newborn mode with DD2 on the toddler seat on top. When DD3 wants to nose around I put her in the toddler seat on the bottom (not recommended for babies under 6 months but she is a big baby and it is only for short trips around shops) and she can look around. Then when I am on my own with one of them, I just use it as a single.

Nicola - same here, don't know why I waited so long! Went through a Kolcraft (huge)and cheapo lightweight tandem (v heavy to push).

Confuzzeled · 12/05/2009 22:10

Okay so P&T then

out n about nipper 360- they can see each other, so light to push, fits almost everywhere (just struggles in little crafty type shops) easy to fold, fits in boot of our focus (with wheels removed but they literally pop off and on) both seats fully recline (and every position inbetween)

ChocFudgeCake · 14/05/2009 21:42

Had a gracco tandem. Too heavy.
THen bought the Out 'n about double Nipper too. It's been great. Great wheels for parks, forest, fields, snow, beach... Bought that one because it looked like DS who has very broad shoulders, would fit for longer and he did.

Kayzr · 14/05/2009 21:44

Phil and Teds

winogal · 14/05/2009 21:47

out n about nipper 360 - easy to steer, light to push - i recommend it to everyone, and everyone I know who has it loves it!
