Instead of splashing out on a bugaboo transport bag to bring my bee to the Uk for 2 months I am thinking of buying a buggy plus possibly an infant carrier in the UK .
I would like a a parent facing / front facing one nothing flimsy as it will be more country use rather than city use price wise nothing more than the price of the bee transport bag so about £95/£100 ( thats what they cost here)- It has to be able to fold easily into a a car boot ( and fit through a standard loft hole for when we are not there!!!!!
Pushchair experts please advise me
P.s I don't like the Loola !!!!

I think you'd be hard pushed to buy a parent facing pushchair for that money. I'd get the bag tbh (I just got my Bee and I love it) How old is dc? I have an ergo carrier and could manage without a buggy if I had that with me. They're about £100

Am happy for second hand to be honest - I just need some ideas on what to look for.. DD will be 7/8 mths I have a baby bjorn carrier but I want he to be able to sleep pretty flat.
I love the bee as well but was looking at other options - plus its one less bag to transit at LGW as I am alone with 2 dc!

Britax vigour 3 on ebay under £100. Rear & forward facing, robust wheels. Apparently folds quite well and not too large.

thisisyesterday · 09/05/2009 21:23

could you not bring the bugaboo without a special bag? i'm sure it'll be fine!

naomi83 · 09/05/2009 22:20

I wouldn't bother with rear facing and would bit on an urban detour travel system on ebay. car seat clicks in, fab 3 wheeler and lies flat, much better than be for outroading

nicolamumof3 · 09/05/2009 22:38

i'd take the bee i think you would really miss it.

how far you travelling and how old is older dc?

horsemadgal · 10/05/2009 00:04

Bring your Bee, you'll hate anything else after using one.

Thx - will think - not putting the bee in the hands of baggage handlers ( 2 sets)
Am doing Italy - LGW then change flights check in again for an internal flight then doing it again. Dc will be 3.4 and 7 mths. I have a super foldable buggy does't lie down for transit and when dd1 needs it but it is for dd2 who will be having lots of naps in the fresh Cornish air !!!

I wouldn't put the bee in a transport bag. I would take it to the gate and it gets put in the separate buggy section and then just gets whipped out at the end. Or if you don't want to do this for some reason I would bubble wrap it and put it in a box.

You won't find a reasonably priced parent-facing that folds flat unless you look on ebay or hunt for second hand.

hettie · 10/05/2009 11:12

hi they don't pout pushchairs in with all the gernal luggage if you take them to the gate. You push it right to the plane, they pop it in some special section (with wheelchairs) and then as you are stepping off the plane they hand it back to you. Not quite sure why you would need a special transport bag

pebbles79 · 10/05/2009 11:31

What about a Bebe Confort Streety? Keep an eye out on Babyvalue on Ebay, they can normally be picked up for under £100.

nicolamumof3 · 10/05/2009 12:31

they don't hand it 'straight back to you' thats never been my experience it goes to baggage reclaim so you have to get there first with no pushchair, which is why i normally travel with a zapp as well.

Wispabarsareback · 10/05/2009 12:39

Agree nicolamumof3 - it's a lovely idea that you might get your buggy back as you step off the plane, but 9 times out of 10 I've found that I've had to reclaim it at the luggage carousel. Makes me mad, especially at airports where there's a huge walk between the gate and the carousel (Tenerife is my worst experience to date).

I have a Bee as well, and there's no way I'd trust it in the hands of baggage handlers!

nicolamumof3 · 10/05/2009 13:19

yep it was a good 15min walk when we got off plane at gatwick recently was so relieved i'd sneaked zapp on board!

Rosa · 10/05/2009 14:09

Exactly ... Last summer I contacted customer services and there was a note on my booking asking if I could have the buggy at LGW - It was on the flight notes. However no way - they requested assistance for me but a wheelchair arrived I said could you push the hand luggage and I will walk with dd ( 2.3 then) and I was PG- The chap said not his job so I pulled my hand luggage and half carried dd - It was the furthest gate away from the luggage hall. i was the last pax up there and I had to wait 30 mins for the luggage with an exhausted dd ( and me ) . The luggage came and the buggy was the last thing off- Thankfully somebody took my cases off whilst I held dd. I cannot risk it this time so I have a fully fold up buggy ( smaller than the zapp). Either of the dd can go in if needed . Have a sling , hand luggage on wheels but I am just in a dilema about what to do with the bee.. If I box it up then I can't demonstrate its a buggy so might get charged for it ( extra case and all that)- But I can zip open the bee bag and show them at check in so its free !
Boh will have a hunt round for the ones suggested and decide .......
Thx

if you check it in it will then be part of your luggage allowance tho too?

louismummy · 10/05/2009 18:20

i've taken my bugaboo frog loads of time and had no probs. it'll be fine!!!

Rosa · 10/05/2009 19:18

No both carriers say one pushcahir carried free of charge hence I need to show it as a pushchair - and my small foldaway one is dd hand luggage!
