Cheap lightweight travel system?

Hi, I've recently found out that I'm expecting no. 2, and as I passed on the travel system that we had for DD (a Britax Trio that we got via Freecycle, very big & bulky & hardly used apart from the car seat), we'll need to get at least a new car seat.

It makes sense to get a car seat that will fit onto some sort of chassis, but I'm more into babywearing than buggying - DD, who'll be 3 in August, has been in her pushchair maybe 20 times in her life - so I don't want to spend much money on it. Looking at a budget of around £100; needs to be lightweight, with reasonably long handles (I'm 5'8" and DH is 6'), fairly compact and easy to assemble / fold / steer.

Three systems that have caught my eye are the Graco Century, the Hauck Roadster and the Petite Star Aruba. Anyone have experience of any of these, or any recommendations in a similar price range?

Thanks!

Well I'd spend the money getting a decent car seat that fits your car. Then just get a cheap buggy/pushchair seperately.

YOu're looking at britax or maxi cosi for a decent car seat about £60

We already have a cheap buggy but I don't know if a car seat will clip onto it? It's not a big brand, it's a Little Shield from Lidl (or Netto?).

We had the Graco Mosaic and were pretty happy with it. It was cheap, light and took a lot of punishment. It was also the easiest I found to fold. The only reason we stopped usng it was that DS got too big for it at about a year old. He is chunky and wide and the buggy is quite narrow so he didn't enjoy being in it anymore. He looked squashed and couldn't really see out. Maybe try your 3 year old in one to see the fit?

BTW, I'm 5'7", DP is 5'9" and we both found it comfortable to push.

i think babies are best flat as much as possible tbh. do you drive alot? is that why you want a travel system?

Oh, forgot to mention - a decent-sized (and accessible) shopping basket is a must!

We had the Mothercare Atlan. It was super - and made by Graco too.

Ah, well that'll count the Mosaic out then. Basket is small and you can't get to it at all when the seat is fully reclined.

the mothercare atlan/graco mirage is a good basic pushchair/travel system. I had one just for doing the pre-school run and loved the click in click out car seat from base in the car. Huge basket, easy to fold, very light and I could fold it with a buggy board still attached

However the graco car seat is not the best but it was the only one that fitted in my car.
