is this going to be the Maclaren Quest at 5.5 kg, or do you know better?
Thanks!

We often travel by train....
It needs to be quick up and down, and lovely and light
... but nice and flat for good sleeping...

The OBaby is quite light, not very common but sold in Argos for about £60 or Wilkinsons for £25

It's really light, reclines, and has lift-up leg rest.

graco mojo- very comfortable

nicolamumof3 · 02/05/2009 17:52

maclaren all the way. such good quality! lies quite flat but not as flat as say the xt. but for an 8m old to sleep its fine. its so easy to fold up and down and light and has nice carry strap.

im selling a couple on for sale boards if interested, one b/new!

maryo2 · 02/05/2009 23:26

thanks everyone
what is the difference between the maclaren quest and maclaren triumph, .... triumph is slightly lighter, and is cheaper,.... how do the reclining positions compare... what else is different?
thanks!

techno gets my vote. v light, carry handle, pull out legrest, un-zip hood that pulls right down when its sunny so that you dont need a parasol, decent sized basket, lies practically flat, studier than quest/triumph, has about 5 recline positions, has armpads and head pad(like a little head cushion)and is a piece of pie to fold one handed.

nicolamumof3 · 03/05/2009 08:01

i wouldn't recommend a triumph, no legrest, recline completely different generally not as nice. quest seat is now more padded as well.

mamadiva · 03/05/2009 08:18

The XT is slightly heavier than the others but is a lot comfier looking, I had one for my 2YO and he fitted fine the seat was a good size so will last ages and the handles were a great height for me and I'm only 5ft 3 but DP is 6ft and thought the handles were agreat height too!!!

Easy to fold whilst holding LO's hand or actually holding them up, and the hood thing is great too as it covers LO from the sun.

I had a 2006 model from Ebay for £50 so I would say go for that.

or The Jane Energy that is lighter but better size for LO than Quest or Triumph.

nicolamumof3 · 03/05/2009 08:24

The XT is alot bigger and heavier! how old is your dc? i would still say the quest tbh, as it is lighter and easier to carry about if you specifically want it for public transport.

nicolamumof3 · 03/05/2009 08:25

sorry just seen from title he's 8m! best thing is to have them lined up side by side and then practice putting them up/down etc and see what you think.

maryo2 · 03/05/2009 18:59

thanks all. it is probably gonna be the maclaren quest,
my only concern now is that the brakes are a bit of a pain to put on, and I need them as our house is on a hill and I put the brakes on as soon as I'm out of the door, so that I can lock the door etc
have read reviews that say the brakes are a pain
Can they be kicked on with your feet? important?
any ideas?
thanks again

They've improved the brake design but go somewhere and try it your self.

It used to be a lever on the wheel that you had to kick. Now there is a push down lever which is much easier IMO

nicolamumof3 · 03/05/2009 19:10

i prefer the new style breaks too as less easy to 'kick on' quests are available in most pram shops tho for you to try out.

Yurtgirl · 03/05/2009 19:13

The brakes on my maclaren quest were useless after a few weeks, I wasnt impressed with the overall quality either tbh

I much prefered this here

It lasted much longer too. It is heavier but folded up easily enough, lies flat.

I walk everywhere and travelled by bus and train alot and found it the best pushchair all round (of our total of 5!)

Yurtgirl · 03/05/2009 19:16

Ive just checked - I had a volo not a quest, the wheels were awfully small, brakes rubbish

CarGirl · 03/05/2009 19:21

new style brakes only been out about a year I think.

Yurtgirl · 03/05/2009 19:24

Aha - ds is seven now so we must have bought our volo 5 years ago!

nicolamumof3 · 03/05/2009 19:31

lol! i think the maclaren quality speaks for itself its the only pushchair manufacturer i know of that now offers a lifetime warranty.

lecohen · 04/05/2009 22:40

Combi flash - I love mine!
