DD1 has asked for one for her birthday and after she got up before 7 again this morning, i am thinking it is a good idea!

So, are they good? Do they work? Yawn!

My kids are 5 and 6 and both have a regular digital clock, with the usual glowing numbers. We've been using them for about a year, and they rarely get up before 7am (unless there is a genuine reason now and again).

Also, the clocks are synchronised to GMT and so even if there is a power cut the clocks will automatically reset itself to the correct time when the power comes back on.

Even though the 5yr old cant tell the time yet, she knows the 1st number on the clock has to be 7

we do the same as knickknack - dd (5.6years) has a digital clock and it has to say 7:00 before she can come through in the morning.

One of the advantages with a younger child who cannot tell the time yet...she sometimes goes back to sleep at, for example, 6.50 not realising its almost 7

I don't have one, but my sister does. My neice is 5, she has had one since she was 4 and works wonders. She used to get up before half 6 every day, but now she will stay in her bedroom til whatever time my sister sets it for.

Thanks for replies.
Prefer the idea of a normal clock, not digital.
5inthebed That sounds promising.

Not really bothered about her going back to sleep as long as she is quiet, ie reads in bed for a bit.
