Is a toddler duvet a good idea?

Or a waste of time and money, if she's probably gonna be out of the cot in a couple of months?

Can't decide.

I use sleeping bags like these for dd (3).
Used them ever since she outgrew Grobags.

TKmaxx usually have some in

Waste of money ime. I bought them for my dses and barely used them. I used gro bags and should have stuck with those and a blanket. As soon as poss I had them in a proper 3' bed with a full size duvet.

depends also if you will be going onto a junior bed or full size one,
if a junior bed then she will get lots of use from it ( i also happen to have 2 sets of pretty girly bedding i am selling lol)

DS is in a junior bed but I just bought standard single duvet and tuck it under at the end of the bed.

The cost put me off getting a toddler duvet as only use for two or three years.

Single duvet seems fine and he'll be able to use it till he leaves home may have to get new covers as not sure he will love firemen and trains until then!

I used grobag and blankets while ds was in his cot. When I took the sides off to make a cot bed he had sheets and blankets.

i used duvet in cot from 12 so had a good 18m use out of it then was passed onto ds3, will also be used on junior bed. Sleeping bags were no good once they became mobile.

will the cot convert into a bed?? (ie a cotbed)?? If so, go for a single duvet and cover as you can tuck it in and stop them falling out the bed!

PuppyMonkey · 30/04/2009 08:08

Thanks for all these responses. I think I might go for a nice lightweight single duvet and tuck it in around the cot for the time being. I reckon she'll probably be in a proper single bed by the end of the year.

She's two now and grown out of the gro-bags - plus she has learned how to take them off.

Go for a single duvet and just fold under at the foot end. Mine is still in a cot and it works a treat. It looks so cosy too. Good job i can't fit in.

My children have been in toddler beds from about 2 1/2 years old and we've got lots of use out of our toddler duvets. I definitely wouldn't use an adult one while they're in a child bed, as they're far too thick and heavy. 7 togs is plenty for a young child even in winter, even though they feel light when you're used to adult ones (which are usually 10+ togs).

We got ours from John Lewis and I think they've been really good. They'll probably use them until they're 6/7 years old, so plenty of use.
