UV covers for buggies

Realised parasol isn't covering DS in his 3 wheeler and I'm worried he might get burnt in those places where I haven't put sunblock.

UV cover might be the answer (as seen in the Urchin catalogue). Has anyone bought one? Anyone think they're useless/too dark/brilliant? Thoughts please...

We've got one - seems to work OK. Bought it in John Lewis (about £30 I think) and it's called `Outlook'. It's supposed to cut out 70% of UV when in single layer, 90% when doubled up. We used it quite a bit last summer, as a single layer - it's still perfectly possible for the baby to see out. However, this year I'm not sure it'll be so useful - ds is older (now 16 months) and when I've tried to put it on, he's just kicked it so hard and whinged (presumably about feeling cooped up?) so I've given up. The one we bought fitted both our 3-wheeler and our Maclaren.

Yes, I think so - they're awkward so-and-sos aren't they?

Thanks gingernut. Was worried DS might have the outlook of one of Michael Jackson's children!

DS is 9 months so might be worth a try this summer.

thanks gem13 for writing about these - had no idea such a thing existed and have been spending teh last 6 months in a frenzy of umbrella waving trying to keep nasty African sun off baby's head - godsend!

We had one of those last year and it was fantastic - it was great not having to re-position a parasol every time I turned a corner with the pushchair!! Not sure that DS will tolerate it this year now that he's 12 months and sitting up (last year he was in the lie-flat position), but according to the box, there is a way to fold it so that it acts like a visor (i.e. doesn't fully cover them, but comes part way down so that it still gives them some shade, but they feel less cooped up), so I'm going to give that a go. It also does a good job at protecting from insects, cats and prodding fingers!!
