Does anyone know if 'official' Brio is labelled anywhere on the track or engines ?

A wooden stamp or something ?

And is it compatible with other wooden track, Tescos, ELC etc ?

Thanks.

Yes it is compatible with Tesco & ELC

Yes, the word 'BRIO' appears on track pieces and also on the wheels of vehicles.

Thanks.

I think I have been done.

I've just won some on ebay but its not got any logo's on it although it was supposed to be genuine.

Oh well... I only paid a few quid for it and DS loves his train.

I just hate it when I've been had !

Excuse me for asking but how much did you pay for it? I have a big box of Brio (mostly genuine with a few added bits of ELC) gathering dust in the loft and was wondering if it was worth trying to sell it.

BillSilverFoxBuchanan · 27/04/2009 18:44

I'd complain to both the seller and ebay. That's really not on!

Kiddiz - that type of thing seems to sell well on eBay. If you know how much you want for it I might be interested as I'm building a collection for my train mad dd at the moment and it's all so ruddy expensive new!

Galava · 27/04/2009 22:06

I'd already left positive feedback before I thought about it .... duh !

Each piece cost an average of 13p, and for that I got track, bridges a turntable and trains. Not too bad imo even if its not the real thing.

I've been looking for a while, alwways wanting local collection to save on the postage and the prices have varied considerably. Before half term I would have had to spend well over £25 to get what I got today.

TKmax have new stuff in atm, £24 for 38 pieces ... so that was always my benchmark.

I suppose thats ebay for you ... unpredicatable !

I will have to venture up to the loft...it has been there quite a while. My sons are 18 and 21 just to give you an idea how long if I keep it much longer I'll be able to go on "flog it"

Galava · 28/04/2009 14:10

OOOh ... vintage Brio then

Seller may not have been trying to cheat; I think some people call it "brio" like you'd call a Dyson a hoover.
They are pretty much interchangeable though.

Baisey · 01/05/2009 11:54

The ELC stuff is actually made by brio, we stopped selling "brio" years ago and brought out our own "wooden world" but we still use the same manufacturer.

thisisyesterday · 01/05/2009 11:58

actually not all of my brio stuff has brio written on it.

Lilymaid · 01/05/2009 11:58

We've got a lot of genuine Brio up in our loft (DSs now 17 and 22) but are looking forward to seeing our GCs use it ... one day. When we bought ours, around 1990, it was far more expensive than it is now.
