Cheap trousers for very slim/tall toddler

DD normally wears cloth nappies but she is starting nursery one day a week and will have to wear disposables.
I have just realised that this means all her current trousers will fall straight down.
So I want to buy some cheapo new ones for nursery that are a) slim fitting enough to stay up and b) cheap as chips as she will be getting them dirty crawling around outside and getting paint on them etc etc.

Anyone know any good places to get what I need, or any other tips?

By the way, she is 16 months, tall for her age but very slim (hence problem)

My ds is tall and slim and I always go for trousers with adjustable elastic so you can pull them in. I think Tesco is about the cheapest I've seen like this. I'm presuming their girls range is the same. Debenhams and Pumpkin Patch are really good but not particularly cheap.

Leggings?

CarGirl · 22/04/2009 19:50

Leggings with lycra are your best bet - Tesco will probably have some.

However a nursery cannot refuse to have her in cloth nappies btw

CarGirl, I didn't know that. Bit torn now, but they do provide the nappies so I suppose I am paying for it, plus it doesn't look as though there would be that much space to store the soiled cloth nappies. But maybe I should speak to them about it...

They may try and argue with you but it's discrimination. You could send her in cloth for her first nappy of the day. I wonder if that is why they are included in the price because they don't want to do cloth! Just send in a large nappy bag I actually found a swimming bag fab for a days worth of washable nappies (mine went to CM)

Good luck with keeping her in cloth, but if you aren't successful (or when she is potty trained) I find H&M the best for tall skinny DD. Their jeans are the only ones which fit her. Tesco were always too wide. Boden are OK but not cheap and cheerful for nursery.
