Basically he has a broad face which limits him a bit but the worst bit is the length of the arms. We haven't been able to get any that are long enough. All they've ever been able to do is adjust the bit that sits over your ear which then slides up.

Any ideas on particular opticians or makes of glasses would be appreciated. We're just starting the time when the glasses come out as his hayfever doesn't get along with lenses!

the optician should be able to make them wider by adjusting them to fit him properly,
how old is he?cant he wear adults glasses?

ok im dim tonight didnt read that properly!thought it said ds!

ok,will start again lol,
the optician should be able to adjust the bit at either side of the frame (between the lense and the leg)to make it a bit wider,
maybe he just needs to try out some different styles of frame, when he orders glasses thye should measure the length he needs the legs to be so they fit properly,

What kind of opticians are you going to?

I have a broad face and have no problem but I go to an independent optician's shop not one of the High St chains. They cost more but they always adjust them properly. I was told that if glasses are not adjusted properly they will not sit properly on the face and the part of the lense that is supposed to be directly in front of your iris will be skewed and therefore may strain the eye.

It happened to me once and the impact of getting my glasses properly adjusted was very noticeable.

[OK so now you all have a wide head and wear glasses - ]

lol,BTW we use specsavers, and always find them good,

Thanks for your replies. He's used specsavers in the past but they couldn't offer a choice of more than a couple of frames which even then needed adjustment and never fitted well. We have also tried independent opticians but with no better results.

is it only the free frames he is looking at?TBH there should be a much better choice.unless you live in a small town?

There are wide fitting spectacle frames at most opticians but you need to get the advice of the optician when choosing not just the assistant.
I know Boots does a XL (extra large) range which should fit.
