We're toying with the idea of installing integrated washing machine and condenser dryer in our kitchen. They seem pricey at an initial Google search and we're not sure which models are better than others.

If you have them, which do you have, how much did you pay and would you recommend them?!!

Thanks!!!

We had them in our previouis kitchen and would say 'STEP AWAY FROM THE INTEGRATED APPLIANCES' when anything went wrong with either the washing machine or dishwasher they had to take the whole place apart. Our plumber said not to replace with integrated as they were a nightmare to work on and cost more to fix.

Our plumber gave us same advice as oops.

My sister got a condenser dryer - not cheap one - in her recent new kitchen adn it has already developed faults.

we faced the same dilemma when replacing our kitchen and found we could get much better free standing appliances for the sme money and went for a large drum washing machine (7.5kg) and drier (7kg) they look ok in the kitchen and are fab appliances.

Thanks for the replies. That's what I thought!

Katz, did you 'integrate' your non-integrated appliances, i.e. build a cupboard and door around them, or just left them on show?

we just left them on show we went for the same make of washer and drier in a matt silver colour and they actually look ok in the kitchen. I'm really glad we did because the large load capacity of the machine is fab, my dd2 is a puker and i can get her duvet in there and it comes out beautifully clean. Would really recommend a large drum machine.

we also bought an american fridge freezer to match. if i was doing it all again the only change i would make would be for black gloss appliances instead.

Interesting, Katz. More food for thought.

Anyone sing the praises of integrated appliances?????

Integrated appliances are a fecking nightmare. So far since we bought our house two years ago the integrated fridge-freezer, microwave, washing machine, oven and dishwasher have all broken down. They are a complete pain in the arse to service and much more expensive to replace.

Never again!

noddyholder · 22/04/2009 23:02

I love them!Make the whole thing look more finished and have never had any trouble with them.Obv I am in a minority. They are good in open plan too as mine seem quiet

PortAndLemon · 23/04/2009 00:13

We have one, because we're in a flat with no space and it came with one so when it broke it kind-of made sense to replace with another.

I wouldn't do it under other circumstances, though -- they are more expensive, you have less choice, they are more difficult to fit, they are more complicated so more likely to break...

That said, our current new-ish one is an AEG and I'm quite happy with it. The Zanussi also sounded good but they had long (and unpredictable) lead times.

I have the most wonderful integrated dishwasher - Zannussi - it is one of the tiny ines, and SO efficient. Washes everything in 30 min, spotless every time
