I've seen these new bumbo seats (in grobag catalogue). They are little plastic seats , where your baby can sit more or less upright. There are no straps but baby is held in place by the plastic molding around their legs. My baby is crawling, but not yet sitting. W're off on holiday soon, thought it might be good for short periods on the beach. Has anyone tried them at all or especially with an already mobile baby. My ds2 is 9 months.

Many thanks

My very small/skinny baby could get out of her Bumbo when younger, by wriggling around and falling over the back, which was not so fun. Now she is 11 months and a bit chubbier and can't get out. They're good if your baby doesn't mind being in it - looks comfy, very stable etc. But my daughter knows she can't get out and cries as soon as I put her in it.

We have one - they are great. Have used it since 4m for sitting and playing (and feeding when not at home). ds is a large 9m and still happy in it. The only child I know who did not get on with it (from a circle of 7 - not the greatest sample) is one who likes to throw himself backwards - whilst he has not yet "come a cropper", I would worry about him on a hard floor. Getting ds out now is not as easy as he is chunky, but I still think I will get at least another 6m out of it.

It was great for dd at 4 months as it helped her sit up whn she couldn't herself - she used to wriggle so much with cussions supporting her that she would be flat within seconds. Now at 11 months it's not so good as she can easily climb out of it.
