cos ds who is of average size seems to be to big for his.
It squashes his shoulders .

Supposed to last unitl he's atleast 11,not that he's still use it then but still.

have you extended the head rest upwards?

brimfull · 15/04/2009 20:53

yes head is fine

it's like this

tis the shoulder area that is too small and it's fixed

7y DD has two high back boosters which she fits in fine - Britax Hiline ones I think. She also fit nicely in the Jane isofix one too, although that is now just the cushion as the back got damaged moving it.

My 7 yr old is on a basic booster seat now for the very same reason. He had to hunch to sit back and it didn't look at all comfortable.

Hulababy · 15/04/2009 20:57

That link says the seat has a height adjustable headrest - have you tried mving it.

The isofix one we had was fixed but there was a knob to turn to wider the shoulder area meaning you could use it longer.

blardy con as it says suitable till 10yrs!

head is fine have raised that
it's the shoulders that are fixed and too small for his body
he ends up all hunched

I thought it was suitable up to 11 as a basic booster with the back taken off?

Dd is a small 7 and is in a normal booster now.

andirobo · 15/04/2009 21:15

DD who is 7 has just agreed to take the back off her car seats and she is just using the base - and getting on well with it - she jsut looked too big for them! They need the base upto 11 or the height of 135cm (I think that is the height).

Why not take the back off and see how he gets on, you could always put it back on for longer journeys where he may fall asleep and need more support.

Hulababy · 15/04/2009 21:28

DD is keen to keep her high back fortunately - she hates the booster cushion for longer journeys, esp at night as she says it is no where near as comfortable for reaxing esp napping.

ChasingSquirrels · 15/04/2009 21:31

my (quite tall) 6.5yo is still in his - A HiLiner.
His shoulders would be squashed if they were in contact with the seat, but the head bit is extended upwards and his shoulders go in the space between the top of the seat back and the bottom of the head bit.
Is it worth extending the head bit further to see if that gives his shoulders more room?

sazm · 15/04/2009 21:55

maybe go to halfords and try a different seat?best to keep the back on for as long as poss,at least then he will have some side impact protection, personally at 6 i wouldnt use just a booster,
my 5yo and 3yo have hi-liners and plenty of room

brimfull · 15/04/2009 22:32

I think the problem is his shoulders aren't up high enough as chasingsquirrels said.

The head is at the correct height for his head .

The back doesn't come off in the model I have.

I would prefer him to stay in a high backed booster really.

eejit alert

it's not a graco one it's this britax one which states for 4yrs and up.

waste of money that was then, should have got a decent one.

OP posts:
sazm · 16/04/2009 20:23

thats more or less the same as a hi-liner (just a different fabric i think) which my nearly 5 yo has and he has loads of room in it,
hmm, maybe his body shape would be better suited to a diff type of seat?

brimfull · 17/04/2009 08:11

quite a few of his friends have sat in it and it's too small for their shoulders as well.
anyway have bought a booster but not a high back one

MuffinBaker · 17/04/2009 08:14

All mine area and they are 3.10, 5.8 and 8.1.

You can raise the head rest part.

HTH.

MuffinBaker · 17/04/2009 08:15

Maxi cosi XP. (iirc)

brimfull · 17/04/2009 08:31

yes the head is raised-that doesn't help the shoulders though

OP posts:
ChasingSquirrels · 17/04/2009 17:42

just had a good look at ds his shoulders are definately between the lower back bit and the head bit, and so have plenty of space.
