currently have an old stair gate across DS3's bedroom door to stop him escaping..........ermm it's not working as he's just appear downstairs having opened it (been and checked it and the "locking" mechanism isn't working properly so far too easy to open).

Also have a non opening barrier across the kitchen door and it's doing my head it climbing over it constantly.

they need to be pressure mounted - and I'm not concerned about the "safety" aspect of them as they're to stop him entering/leaving rooms rather than going up or downstairs

I need cheap - he's 22 months - I'm not going to be using them for that much longer (I hope lol) and preferably fairly fast delivery

I've looked on kiddicare and they all seem so expensive - although admittedly it's been several years since I last bought one - so perhasp their prices are cheap??

ikea? ( get a fmaily card, you get them in store and they are free, so the stair gates are even cheaper!)

lidl do safety first pressure ones at £15?

check tesco and asda websites?

my dd has just broken our safety gate by snapping the handle shute when the lock wasn't lined uop so the little bits inside that push the lock shut snapped!

how mcuh were they on kiddicare?

£21.99 at tesco direct

I got a couple (for dogs but made for toddlers) v cheaply from ebay, as new but well under £20 all in

FAQinglovely · 06/04/2009 14:15

oh - they are quite expensive aren't they >>

must be a long time since I last bought a gate as I'm sure we only paid about £30 for 2 when DS2 was younger - and they weren't the cheapest ones".

oh well - just one I guess then and I'll have to keep climbing over into the kitchen

think it's off to freecycle and a wanted - and hope someone responses quickly .

Also need to get a baby monitor - if I have music/TV on (even really quietly) in the evenings I can't hear the DS's upstairs if they're crying/calling me for me. The monitor I have is now very tempremental (well I suppose it's not really suprising given that it's 8 1/2yrs old and has seen 3 babies/toddlers playing with it LOL).

Again not going to need that for much longer either - why do these things always break and need replacing when you only need them for a short period of time????????

if you lived closer to me I have 2 or 3 you could have had....

Want to get ones that fix to the wall this time as we never got on with them when dd was a baby and ds is likely to be a terror so needs something stronger lol.

Does your local hv/surestart do a baby safety loaning service? You can borrow things like safety gates and monitors here.
