Does anyone know of a pushchair that is bus friendly & faces me?

Have to take DS to his new school on the bus and obviously need to take DS2 (7m). My current pushchair is a bus nightmare (m&p ultima x cel chassis)

Thanks

Bugaboo bee?

EldonAve · 03/04/2009 13:50

bee

DSMaryMagdalene · 03/04/2009 13:53

Why do you want it to be facing you? Genuine question, I have always wondered this..

Surely you want your child to be seeing whats all around him, rather than travelling backwards looking at you the whole time?

It's a genuine question

LadyOfWaffle · 03/04/2009 14:46

O no, is that one of those flat but tilts ones? That are like £600? Facing me as he cries, besides I like to see them I'll look up this Bee one... thanks

I only need it for a month or so (fingers crossed)

So you want him to be facing you as he cries? Why?

Do you really want to be staring at each other for the whole journey every time you are out? I think that if I were being pushed around, I would at least like to see where I was going..

DSMaryMagdalene · 03/04/2009 14:57

God that sounds terribly argumentative - it is not my intention honestly! I am just interested is all

LadyOfWaffle · 03/04/2009 15:05

I imagine it like sitting on a train - either sitting face to face or one infront of the other. I prefer to sit face to face. I pushed him the other way a few weeks ago and it was so odd! He can see plenty out the side (shade down) and round me I have just looked up the Bee, it looks quite good (odd wheels though!)

5inthebed's Chicco for me would probably be good for you for this purpose (check Pushchairs for sale board - if she hasn't sold it already).

I have a Buzz which I like a lot (not taken on bus yet) but my 9mth old now likes being forward facing - . I hate pushing them without seeing them. And it was v cute with dd on the buggyboard talking to him...

NorktasticNinja · 03/04/2009 15:14

I much prefer RF to FF and DD (now 16 months) has always seemed to prefer it too. I've no buggy suggestions for you though, sorry!

fairimum · 03/04/2009 16:05

Our Icandy Cherry is fab on public transport!!

Disenchantegg3 · 03/04/2009 16:06

bee,

you can get them for £250 used.

mrsgboring · 03/04/2009 16:07

Could you manage a sling? They are most bus friendly of all, though you do have to carry all the luggage that way.

LadyOfWaffle · 03/04/2009 17:42

The cherry looks good too - I don't think i'd cope with a sling, DS2 is very heavy and I have a bad back. I was going to get a didymos but I took him a few hundred yards in a baby bjorn and I was shaking. Thanks for all your help, I have no idea about pushchairs!

i think a bebe confort streety is rear facing and sort of umbrella style

Tallis · 03/04/2009 18:20

LoW, why do you only need one for a month? COuld you perhaps borrow a rear-facing buggy from a friend? Whereabouts do you live...?

I know what you mean about rear-facing. I would absolutely hate not being able to see dd. Feel a bit of a prat, too, walking along talking to the back of a buggy!

treedelivery · 03/04/2009 18:26

bebe confort loola. Folds ok too.

mrsgboring · 03/04/2009 18:59

Baby Bjorn is no comparison to a proper sling such as a didymos - they don't distribute the weight very ergonomically for most people.

My DS was a bit of a buggy refuser, but I preferred rear facing too if we ever got him in it, so shall watch thread with interest.

Umlellala · 03/04/2009 20:45

Agree re proper sling. Had a Tomy one which was ok for my tiny dd but hurt after a while. But I carry my bruiser 9mth old pretty much every day in an Ergo sling and it is totally fine and doesn't wreck my back AT ALL (have carried him for four hours with only a couple of breaks and was fine, legs a bit achey but really well and happy). HOWEVER the Ergo is unbelievably expensive (as much as a cheap/second-hand pram)- do love mine though. So, so glad I bought it - perfect for public transport (and no evil looks )!

Do think the Chicco for Me suits your needs down to the ground, is a bit of a cheapy Bee - she was asking about £80 inc delivery iirc?
