Funpod (no, seriously!)

Have done a quick search on opinions on the funpod and most of them date back a couple of years.
So have any more mnetters bought this in the meantime and is it worthwhile, or was it too like a coffin? Should I just plonk LO in a cardboard box in the kitchen to keep him away from the dog's bowls?

LO's just turned 1 so standing fine, but I can't let him play on a chair for a good while yet, and there is far too much rubbish lying round the kitchen floor to risk him investigating just yet.

I would buy one they seem to solve alot of issues we had in the toddler years.

i wouldn't buy one of these, wouldnt suit me,
if im cooking i would have lo in the high chair or out of the kitchen, and playing with something else,
if you want lo to help you wash veg etc couldnt you just give them a big pot/basin with water in it?
seems expensive for something that you are not going to use for long,

Do you mean these?

I remember a thread on MN a couple of years ago about them......

get one of these instead Also they dont look ridiculous and are less than £8

What about a tripp trapp chair - I managed to get one for about £25 more than the Funpod I've just looked at and least it's usable for many years.

I find it's great for baking etc.

The whole reason funpods came about is because standing on a chair or stool when you're a year old is not very safe.
Yes you could put them on the floor with a bowl of water but in my experience that doesn't keep them occupied very long and they are quite liable to tip it all over your floor.

Yurtgirl · 01/04/2009 22:11

Standing on a chair/stool at a year old isnt very safe - so my los didnt! They sat in their highchair or did stuff at a low table.

I cant see the point of forking out for a funpod (unless you have money to burn!) Why not just wait until the child is 2 1/2 and able to stand more safely on a chair???

But Tripp Trapp can be fitted with a baby bar and also reins if needed. I never had a problem with ds trying to escape (although I bought it in first place as he was escaping from his chicco chair). But was at the right height and footplate meant he could still reach over and get involved at table/worktop.

The ikea step thing is fab for little ones to stand on, both my boys (3yo and 20mo) use ours in the kitchen - when no room for both tripp trapp chairs. The step can be easily moved around by the boys and is very sturdy with a large platform - perfectly safe. (Very handy for reaching sink to wash hands after being in the garden too).

I think the funpod is a complete waste of time tbh

Got 1 ex-demo on ebay...already have the tripp-trapp which is great while he's eating but he wants to stand all the time otherwise. If nothing else, I'll shove my tupperware in it since that's taking over the cupboards!

As someone else said, chair not safe enough yet, and can't keep him out of the kitchen just cos he's too young to do that! Can't leave him on the floor due to dog & dog-food lying around so will see how it goes

Good for you, I'll buy it off you in 18 months time if you're done with it, I think they sound a great idea.

Dontpanic · 06/04/2009 21:11
