We're coming back to the UK this year after a few years away and will need a car. It has to be cheap - we'll be buying 2nd hand and from what I can see on t'internet there's plenty available for under 3 grand.

I was thinking of the Citron Zsara, but am attracted to this because it's so inexpensive. Has anyone any advice? Different makes/models? It doesn't have to be pretty, just practical, with room for one booster seat, one child seat and one baby seat. Also be ggod to have decent boot space to fit he double buggy.

We're in America and have an enormous Dodge van which we love! Don't know how we'll managae without it....

TIA

Friend has a VW Touran - fits two baby seats and a child seat across one row of seats, and with the back row down, plenty of room for her Out and About double nipper.

With the back row up, not a lot of room for buggy, but useful to have the flexibility

thanks for the replies...

nice to hear that about the Picasso, herbietea. They also seem to be the cheapest out of all the people carriers - I've been looking on autotrader.com and there are a few for under 2 grand! Although these tend to be a good few years old, but as I say, it doesn't have to be pretty or flashy, just practical for a family of 5.

our renault scenic is doing us proud, you can get three seats in the back. it has been a comedown for Dh and I (bmw, audi, before arrival of little one...) and it hasnt disapointed.

personally test drove a citroen xsara and thought it was a pile of sh*te but just goes to show everyone has a different opinion. there is a reason why they are so cheap, they have a terrible long term record (always going wrong) so its a false economy.

are estates out of the question????
