Travel system where car seat fixes directly onto pushchair chassis - Maxi Cosi or not?:

Saw mum at Tesco's with what I think was a Maxi Cosi Streety today and fell in love at first sight - I would love this type of pushchair esp. for the school run so I do not have to disturb a sleeping baby.

Is this a good one or is there a better one on the market - I would prefer to stay under £300 if poss. Thanks!

Is this it?

Yep that's it - is it ok? I should mention that I'm 6ft so I'm concerned this night be a bit low for me.

don't think it will be high enough and you'll be stooping. Height on link says 94.5cm. I'm nearly 6ft too and feel more comfortable with anything over 105cm.

I've got a bebecar mcity but not in production now. but most of the bebecars can fit car seat directly to chassis. also, they go for pretty silly money on ebay if you want to go the second hand route.

have a look at the mia moda alegria- sort of similar but with a great handle height- compact fold and you can get an in car base for it to boot! (all for under £300!)

I noticed the Streety in a few reviews the other day - it's very cute, and looks a really good alternative to the Bee!

lou222 · 27/03/2009 20:14

a car seat should only be used in the car
it's really bad for a babies back to be in one for longer than necessary
i cringe when i see them on prams

downbutnotout · 27/03/2009 20:33

Thanks all - my eyes are bugging out of my head from reading pushchair reviews online now! Any more tips gratefully received - I don't suppose anyone has any Quinny Zapp experience?!!

A loola? Either with the bebe confort creatis car seat or I think you can get adaptors for a maxi cosi seat to fit on

abermum · 28/03/2009 09:30

i had a zapp for my maxi cosi- twas great for that but i would never use it as a buggy!

AnnasBananas · 28/03/2009 14:19

I second Lou222.

Newborns shouldn't be 'scrunched' into a car seat for more than two hours per day and I also don't like to see these car seats as prams for extended use.

What about a lie-flat car seat that can fit directly onto a pushchair chassis eg Jane Matrix or similar. That way you don't have to disturb a sleeping baby and they can continue to lie flat and supported.

downbutnotout · 29/03/2009 09:26

This is a new one on me - I didn't know there were lie flat car seats

I think there is only one lieflat carseat, the Britax one, that Which approve. They have been keen to warn against lieflat seats in earlier reviews.

AnnasBananas · 29/03/2009 21:11

I don't know about the Which reviews, though. I have been more than happy with my Jane Matrix lie-flat.
