Have about £250 to spend on dd-I know it should go in her trust fund, but she has had nothing new in a very long time!

What should I get? She is loving letters at the mo, but is really struggling with reading-someone said a barbie-type laptop would be good (I never go on the internet with her and should, but get worried about my laptop getting broken -bad mummy!!!

She is 5, not in to HSM, quite likes the idea of singing and dancing-does shows for me if she gets the urge, but gets v shy otherwise. Loves arty stuff.

I want things that we can do together-our lives are very very busy, so we are never in before 6pm, and normally it is the simpsons with a snack, bath, story and bed, then weekends are handed over to seeing her dad/seeing dd's friends/seeing family-one in 4/5 weekends is spent at home, and then it is very rare that we aren't doing something scheduled. We are very close, but feel like we need quality time-want some good garden ideas for when summer comes (will only be working 2 1/2 days so we have a lot of time together ahead! Yippee!!!)

£20 on fun arts and crafts materials. The rest in the trust fund.

Oh, another £20 on some nice new books to read together. Then the rest in the trust fund.

No garden toys? We have never had a garden before so have no outdoor toys, so dd was v excited about getting a trampoline or sandpit or see saw or something. We have a picnic blanket and a skipping rope, and a bowling set, but that is it.

how about drama/singing lessons???? Doesn't have to be stagecoach style expense....

Pawslikepaddington · 23/03/2009 14:35

I don't really want to tie her down to a weekend activity, as she could attend at most once every three weeks, and I can't pick her up from school so can't do it during the week. Could look into it as a school holiday thing though-thank you!!

why spend half save half, that was always the rules when i was growing up, Christmas money Birthday money, any extra money that came our way (very rarely) we were obviosuly allowed to save all of it but the spend/save ruel always worked well.
The save half helped me through the first term at uni buying textbooks and food.

Dozymare · 23/03/2009 14:37

yes lots of the local drama clubs do school holiday clubs with a show at the end. also help with her confidence!

Pawslikepaddington · 23/03/2009 14:39

Brillo dozy-thank you!! Katz-that sounds great too-she is so excited about having some spending money-she doesn't realise it won't buy the whole toy shop tho!
