I'm learning to drive and thinking of getting a car for myself as I should be driving by this September. I need one for learning to drive as well as DH isn't too keen on letting me learn on his new car. Ford puma looks quite exciting and I have 2 year old DD and we want a second baby quite soon. Would two babyseat go on the back of the car? What do you all think of the car as I want a practical one as NOT boring car if you know what I mean. Any other car recommendation would be appreciated if you don't think puma is a good choice.

i wouldn't go for something with 3 doors TBH from the safety point of view as well as the fact its much less hassle lol,
i would also have a look at insurance quotes too before you buy something(i think a puma would cost you a fortune to insure!)
vauxhall are generally a bit cheaper to insure, how about a corsa/astra??

i have 3 kids and an MGZR which i love, however i am debating giving in to the practical side and getting a 7 seater lol,

Agree with sazm - 3 doors is a pita trying to get them in/out of car seats.

Think the puma will cost alot to insure as a new driver as well as guzzling fuel - aren't they really small in the back as well. Not sure you would get a pram and a weeks shopping in the boot either.

Sorry can't advise on other makes as I drive probably the most boring cars on the market (Mondeo & Volvo)

WE recently got rid of a Ford Puma after 10 wonderful years. I loved that car, and learnt to drive in it. It was very good for that - being so small it makes parallel parking etc really easy. Great fun to drive too.

We only used it very occasionally with the dcs and it was a bit of a PITA tbh to get them into and out of it. We could only fit the baby seat on the front seat (rear setbelts weren't long enough).

Our insurance for the Puma was dirt cheap though (probably because it was old and worth next to nothing). It was around £200 per annum (although would be more, I guess, if you're a learner).

I miss it so much. We replaced it with a Mazda MX-5 (no good to you - only 2 seats) which I do not like at all. It is dh's plaything really.

A 3 door is a pain in the arse for getting children in and out of. You think "oh, it won't annoy me" but it does, every time you have to get a child out who is refusing to cooperate, I tell you. Never again!

Should have added - the boot on a Puma is surprisingly big. Its an awkward shape though - deep but short. The only pushchair I could find to fit was a Quinny Zapp, but you could get lots of shopping in there too. No way you could get a double pushchair in their though.

i've always had sporty cars and always said i would never have a 5 door ( a 3 door is more funky and sporty)
UNTIL
my friends car went on fire (3 door)
luckily his kids were at home as he would never have had time to unstrap them both and get them out - very scary, i sold my 3 door a few weeks later and have never had another!

hmmm..oh....could you recommend me 5 door car then...I suppose it would bother me as well in the long run.

vauxhall corsas and astras are usually quite good, cheap to run, cheap to repair, and usually quite cheap for insurance,
try having a look at the likes of autotrader website, you will get a rough idea of what you can get (depending on your budget)

the other thing is,i always have my baby in the front with me as i like being able to see he is ok,but also it saves me having to squeeze all 3 kids in the back,
if you would want the baby in the front ith you, then you would need something with no passenger air bag (or one that can be switched off)
