Which double buggy for toddler and new baby?

I am 5 months pregnant with my second baby and I've just started looking into the options of double buggies. The choice is a bit overwhelming so wondered if anyone would recommend one that they have found works particulaly well. Tandem or side by side? DS1 will be 20 months when the baby is born and still sleeps a fair bit. I would like a buggy where he can also lie flat if he needs to sleep when we're out. (Some of the tandems don't seem to allow for this.)

Phil and Teds all the way

Have had 3 doubles and it's by far the best

Out n About Nipper (I've got one for sale if you're interested!) I absolutely loved mine, very lightweight, easy to push and both seats can fully recline.

I'd recommend the Phil and Ted's, I loved it when I had a newborn and a 25 month old. I never wanted a side-by-side as I was worried about getting through doors etc.

I initially had the Jane Powertwin, I didn't like it as it was quite long and I was unable to open doors as I could not reach along the pushchair to open a door. When my older child was in the front she could throw her weight from one side to the other and it felt like the buggy was going to tip.

IME no double is perfect but the Phil and Teds comes closest!

Another vote for P&T. No double will ever be perfect and there are always bad points but i think the P&T is the best. Can be expensive if you buy new but widely available second hand on ebay.

Thanks for your advice all. The only thing that has put me off the phil and Teds when I've seen them is the little one seems very stowed away underneath. Can you have any eye contact with them at all? What happens when they get older and want to sit up and see out?

I had a 21 month gap and I love my nipper!

With P&T the eldest won't be able to lie down as you want. You can see the baby underneath still and when they are older you simply put up the main seat and take the extra seat off the top and fit it at the back for the little one.

I have the single version of Baby Jogger City Mini and am going to trade in my P&T for the doubles of it as I am very impressed with it!
