Are they heavy to push and push up kerbs/steps when they are rear facing?

I've got an Otutto, I love it very much. I don't find it particularly heavy to push, never any problems with getting up hills or kerbs or anything, even with the basket crammed full of shopping. In comparison with my Jeep 3-wheeler it is a dream to push.

sazm · 15/03/2009 17:08

ooh,i've just bought an rversus off ebay, should be here on wed so will let you know!

nappyaddict · 16/03/2009 15:26

Thanks

well got my rversus yesterday, was FILTHY,so had it to pieces and washed it all lol,
had its first run today,i really like it, it is a little bigger folded up than i expected,i can push it one handed, and easy up kerbs ( my baby is only 15wks)
its really easy to fold and unfold (once you have figured it out!)
anything else you want to know just ask

I don't suppose you could borrow an older child to see if it's still light to push and easy up kerbs?

OP posts:
sazm · 20/03/2009 00:49

what age is your lo??

nappyaddict · 20/03/2009 13:15

He is 3 in June and he is 33lbs.

I have an Otutto, and it is lovely.

Haven't used it for a while, but when I did it fitted dd1 in ok (then 3ish, and big for her age. must have weighed about 16/17kg)

great to push, nice and comfy for both girls (dd2 was nice and snug in it as a newborn)

sazm · 20/03/2009 21:34

I wouldn't even think of using something like this for my 3yo,theres no way you could push it one handed and it would be really heavy up kerbs,
how about the chicco for me on the for sale board? they are much lighter,
or a streety?

nappyaddict · 21/03/2009 09:16

I tried the chicco for me and the streety and they felt quite heavy. Sometimes the more lightweight a pushchair is, the worse it supports a heavier child's weight iyswim. That's why I thought I might try the Rversus or Otutto instead. I don't need to push it one handed, but I am concerned about them being heavy up kerbs which is why I was wondering if you knew an older child you could try in your pushchair lol.

my daughter is 3 lol,but i dont think it would stand up to it, mine is a used buggy so maybe not as sturdy as a brand new one, but the frame/handles wouldnt last i dont think,
will try her in it later on for you lol
what about a britax vigour?that might be good?

nappyaddict · 21/03/2009 18:12

thanks saz

Not keen on the seat of the vigour.

sazm · 21/03/2009 19:01

hmm probably would be too small for your lo,
hubby is away to work with the buggy in the boot lol,but will get back to u when i try her in it lol!

nappyaddict · 21/03/2009 19:15

Yep that's fine thanks. Also do you know how tall and heavy your DD is?

OP posts:
sazm · 21/03/2009 21:21

hmm, lol, she is 17kg and is tall for her age(about 1 metre) sarahx

nappyaddict · 23/03/2009 08:42

Ah she's a little bit bigger than DS - he's 15kg and 90cm. Would be great if you could try her out in it rear facing for me. It's mainly the kerbs I'm thinking will be a problem.

OP posts:
sazm · 24/03/2009 11:01

heya,
ok so i thought you were a bit mad at the thought of a 3yo in one of these!BUT when i put my lo in it she fits no prob, even with the hood up,theres plenty room in the harness for her too,as well as plenty space for her bum lol,
only thing is the front apron isnt that big,she could fit in for a short while with her legs scrunched up a bit but i dont think it would be comfy long term (but then she is taller than your lo)
as for kerbs and pushing, its actually not heavy at all,(i really thought it would be)
maybe depends what sort of height/build u are tho lol,as im 5ft7" and pretty well built lol.dont know if a petite size 8 would find it so easy!!)

im selling my rversus if you would be interested too ....

nappyaddict · 24/03/2009 15:36

What other pushchairs have you had that you could compare it to?

How much are you looking for and what colour is it?

OP posts:
sazm · 24/03/2009 16:03

i had a nurse hello which i just sold i loved it but the seat unit was tiny on it and my dd didnt fit in it,(that was when she was 18m)so i bought her a zapp instead,
i havent had anything similar to it,i've not had as many pushchairs as most folk on here yet (although i do plan to try and catch up)

its light grey/grey and dark grey lol dont know what the fabric is actually called(vogue i think),
i do really love it,but its aukward to get in and out of the boot(my boot is a dodgy shape lol) and i already have a loola
up reserved at my local shop!
looking at about £150 delivered,
sarahx

nappyaddict · 24/03/2009 16:53

Oh I wanted a red one.

My friend is lookin at either the Bee, Rversus or Nurse Hello. Do you think the Nurse Hello was heavier to push and up kerbs than the Rversus or not?

OP posts:
sazm · 24/03/2009 18:09

the nurse hello, i loved, but the footmuff only does up to about 12m,and the seat unit not much older,it was so easy to push tho,one handed and even with the buggyboard on it,i've just sold mine as i was sick of having to dismantle it to put it in the car lol, didnt feel very sturdy going down kerbs tho, always made me a bit wary,
the rversus is good because it folds easily and all in one, also the seat unit is MUCH bigger and its better going down kerbs,

i was planning to get a streety when i had this bubby but ended up with a buzz!lol

nappyaddict · 24/03/2009 23:51

I'll pass that onto her thanks. Which would you say was lighter to push the Nurse Hello or Rversus?

OP posts:
sazm · 25/03/2009 19:45

the nurse hello def, because of the big wheels at the back, but then you would need to get another when bubby was 12 months as it honestly wont fit much longer than that,

the rversus also does from birth so you dont need a separate carrycot for it,where as the nurse is a bucket seat so from 6 months so if lo falls asleep they cant lie flat, whereas the rversus is totally flat when laid down,
