Please talk to me about double buggies....

Am expecting baby no. 2 in August.
DS will be 15 months old

so, I'd like a robust double buggy which can (hopefully!) do all of the following:

Cope with rear and forward facing children (preferably independantly of each other)
Allow independant reclining
Preferably be suitable with a baby car seat (Ideally the Maxi cosi cabriofix, but not essential!)
Robust
Lightweight (ish!)
Stable - preferably with some room for bags

I don't really like the idea of a Phil & Teds where one kid gets 'shoved' under the other with what must be a limited view and all the carbon monoxide cars are pumping out straight at nostril level, especially as the kids will be close in age and i'd like to be able to keep the buggy for a while (2-3 years)

So, as I'm clueless on such things, I would appreciate any / all advice!

thanks, HM

depends on your buggy use. if you don't have a car and walk a lot it's got to be a mountain buggy double, or an easy walker double. these both take carrycots and carseats clip ins. Nipper 360 is also meant to be fab, and a bit cheaper, but can't clip in a carseat, and a little wider. I hear mountain buggies are about to drop in price, or buy off ebay. If you use the car/bus a lot i'd go for baby jogger city mini double. All these, except the nipper take a maxi cosi.

Thanks Naomi83 - that's great.

I do have a car, but live within walking distance of town and train station, so tend to walk rather than load the buggy into the car, IYSWIM.

I'll take a look at your ideas.

thanks!

Hi I nannied baby twins and we got through a few double buggies trying to find the best for us.
I would recommend the double Mountin Buggy it wont do everything on your list but I'm not sure any buggy will TBH.
It is lightweight IMO for a double, you can reclin each seat independently, very stable and loads of room in the basket and on the hood. I used to put their little sauage dog on the hood after a long walk so it can fit a decent amount of weight.
They are very very robust and last for years.
They dont face you but you can get a proper pram carry cot for the baby plus still have toddler in the normal seat.

They are expensive but do hold value quite well on ebay.

Thanks!

the list above is a bit of a 'wish list' - More importantly that rear facing is them being side-by-side (I know I'm going to live to regret that when they are fighting with each other ).

I would buy one off E-bay, but having bought buggies off there before, only to find that some 'key and irreplaceable' part is missing, DH will kill me, so I think I'd better go for a new one!!!
