I use Snapfish to make photoboos of holiday photos and they have always worked really well. prices are good.

The Tescos books are also supposed to be very good.

Can i just ask how long does it take for you to put a bk together. Are there loads of diff backgrounds and can you add remarks to certain photos

Photobox is great for photo books and they're very easy to create.
Plus you get 40 free prints too.

catinthehat1 · 10/03/2009 21:05

We have done 2 lovely ones for holidays on snapfish. THey cost £20 ish (at sale time). We are always picking them up and going through the photos.

THe trick is to upload a bunch of photos to the site first as that is time consuming.

THen pick a book type and start playing about. You don't pay anything until you've decided your book is complete.

If you are finding that your book is totalling up too many ££ as you go, just choose preset layouts which put more photos on a page instead.

On snapfish, we have ignored the fancy schmancy preset backgrounds and gone for black which looks ultra professional.

You can add text on certain layouts, which we do in white.

The layout are the key thing IMO, spend time getting those to look right.

Yes, easy to do. Upload lots of photos in advance. Takes an evening to put together. Various page layouts and backgrounds to choose from, and you can add text.

From Photobox you can create a small book for 11.99 see here

catinthehat1 · 10/03/2009 21:16

have spent several evenings with DH putting one together, Hulababy is a fast worker! I have really enjoyed the process of doing ours so spent ages.

Hulababy · 10/03/2009 21:17

My first one probably took longer I guess. More recent ones I have done with 6y DD so not spent as long on them.

claret1980 · 10/03/2009 21:28

I have done a few on Photobox. They have been fantastic quality. For about 26 pages it is around £24.

ladyr · 11/03/2009 11:33

I've used Photobox and been pleased with books. Also made photobook about daddy for 4yr old dd using different company, slightly different as they are "reading books". Here's a link click here

shonaspurtle · 11/03/2009 12:15

I've done a few of these using Snapfish and have been really pleased with the results.

I would say that 25 pages would cost c£30 but the trick is to do it when there's a special offer on. If you're using a site for the first time you'll probably be able to find a discount code somewhere.

Using pre-set layouts you can have more than one photo on a page so it works out way cheaper than buying an album and having to pay for prints to stick in it.

You can put in captions, or even just a page of text. I think the black and white layouts look best, but you can usually choose from a few themed or coloured layouts. The layouts vary in size of photo as well, so you can choose to have a single photo blown up to fill a whole page, or up to about 10 little ones.

They make fab presents and really aren't that hard to do. Spend some time thinking about the photos you want to use, and what order you want to use them in. That will save you a lot of hassle when it comes to making up the book.
