just a thought - do you need a bed guard? those Ikea beds are quite low down aren't they, not like a proper sized divan bed. I only ask as a friend of mine used a rolled up towel (like a long sausage) under the outside edge of the mattress with all her three children. I tried it with DD2 as she was in a bottom bunk (not too high) and it worked a treat. The towel or blanket just tips the mattress up enough to stop them rolling out, and you can always put a couple of cushions on the floor for the first few nights.

yeh cheers might try that first b4 i fork out. Shes(dd2) only 17 month but having a op next month and cant lift so thought would try her in a bed. She always bangs her head on cot and my friend said her dd did this and was much better in a bed. my dd1 went into a bed from 20 months. I dont like cots much!!!!
