Scooters

I'd like to buy scooters for my 3 year old and nearly five year old DDs (the ones we have were given second hand and are quite frankly useless, non folding with big wheels that catch on their feet etc..)

I'd also like a scooter type thing for my nearly 2 year old DS because if the girls are out on theirs he'll throw a tantrum if he's not on one too!

I'd like something light and foldable (we have NO space to store things!), cheap (we have NO money!!), well made and most importantly easy to use.

Have thought aboutthis for the nearly five year old.
Have read on another thread saying that mini micro scooters are good (perhaps for my three year old) - but they're expensive - are there any cheaper alternatives?
Haven't a clue for the nearly 2 year old!
Any suggestions very welcome!!

Also, what's the feeling on making DCs wear helmets with scooters?

Better buy yourself some decent trainers because if your DS is anything like mine you will be legging it after him A LOT

One good idea if doing regular journeys on the scooters (we do school run every day) is to have 'stopping points' along the way where they have to stop to let you/brother/sister catch-up. Means they don't get too far ahead and you can still see them.

Enjoy

The 'stopping points' idea is a good one feetheart.
I may let DH take them out on the scooters at first though, as I'm 7+ months pregnant and do not see myself 'legging it' after them very daintily at the moment

I can't stress enough how important it is for your kids to wear helmets after my 4 year old came off his scooter and ended up with concussion in A&E. Both my children are extremely sensible, stop when told to and don't go to far from me so I never even thought to get them to wear helmets. When I think of what could have happened it makes me go cold. (I never let them on the bikes without a helmet). Anyway...we have now got trendy skate board helmets for the scooters and they are happy and I feel so much better.

Whatever you get, please SUPERVISE your children, as little ones on scooters are a hazard to pedestrians, especially elderly ones. And note that THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED indoors (museums, shops, tube stations).
