Myy dd (4) has had her last clarks pair for a mere 3 weeks now and the leather is completely off the front of them.

Please has anyone got any advice on this - where to get shoes that don't scuff as easily or how t stop her doing it? She seems unaware of causing the problem however much I explain to her and £30 for shoes to last 3 weeks is

I used to buy patent ones for her which was a bit more hardwearing but now shes a size 10 1/2 apparently they don't do them

Help me please as this is driving me mad. I hate her going to school so scruffy.

Try cleaning them with shoe polish? I use that dead quick sponge applicator stuff, brings my ds's shoes back from the dead.

This is literally to the point of the material showing through. I do polish them quite regularly because she is hard on shoes.

i have had the same prob with my 5yr old dd now i go to a little shoe shop which stocks lots of diffrent brands and have found that ricosta are fab the rubber sole comes up a bit higher at the front which helps, little bit more money but well worth it.

I don't think this is a problem with the children tbh but that the shoes are not up to the job.

All my dc have this happen within a few days. I used to think it was them being careless, but all it takes is for them to sit down cross legs a few times are they get scuffed.

I really believe all school shoes need a rubber 'bumper' round the toe part. It should be part of the design. I've often wonderd if you can buy something like that to stick on over the front.

I was beginning to think it was just my DD. Will google Ricosta as I have never heard of these.
Problem is findingt somewhere that stocks them!

I have found a style on the Clarks website (not in my local store for some reason) where the rubber sole goes up and over the front of the toes to protect from scuffing.

dd1 aged four had these for about five months and they still look in ex condition.

Style name is Katie-Jo, they are brown leather with little flowers on.

You can order online and collect and your local store, you don't pay to do this.

Sorry just seen her size, they stop at 9.5.

We have this with ds's school shoes - they are like suede over the toes. We all need to get black steel toecaps that can be clicked on and off (suitable for quite a wide range of sizes) designed so that we can make shoes last a bit longer!

QueenFee · 09/03/2009 20:58

mmm.. do I see a dragons den possibility

Not from me - you're very welcome to it - to scared at the potential from steel toecaps from ds!

When I worked in K Shoes, the shoes we sold were Scuff-resistant,and the mums never complained about them, when they came for new ones, just that they looked too good to need new ones!

I don't know if they still do them.

My DS was heavy on his shoes,so I bought Scuff-coat i think it was called,it kind of "paints" the shoe rather than polishes them, covers up almost anything!
