Hi

A swing gate just doesn't work at the top of our stairs. Is there an aslternative?

Many TIA

i've got lascal kiddyguard gates and they are good

Thanks GreenEggs.

Some of the reviews say they are a pita to fix and very noisey. Are you happy with yours then?

DH fixed them up. He needed to get longer fixings than came in the pack cos our walls have a big space before it hits brick iyswim, but apart from that fixing them was fine (and we've got fiddly round banisters to fix them to)

They are noisy opening and closing but it doesnt cause any problems - I am only openeing and closing them when baby is awake so they stay open when he's asleep and doesnt disturb...

They look much neater than normal gates and you dont have the stupid bar to trip over!

i have the lascal one too, and it isn't noisy at all! you just have to keep the button pressed in and it is silent.

it's great

and it was easier to fix than the previous wall-mounted gate we had

SnowlightMcKenzie · 05/03/2009 18:40

That's geat news, although not looking forward to telluing DH we're going to spend that much.

I got mine new for about £50 each.
They sell on ebay for average of £40 each so a brilliant re sale value

We've got them as well - I'd agree that you can do them quietly although there's a bit of a nack and you need 2 hands. Worth it, though, as they're so neat.

stubbyfingers · 05/03/2009 21:31

We had to get longer fixings too and they are a real PITA to open, but the neatness thing wins for me!

SnowlightMcKenzie · 06/03/2009 08:40

It's not neatness I'm after, but we can ony accomodate a swing gate that swings out over the stairs. My DS INSISTS on shutting it which involves acrobatics just where the stairs turn and he's at more risk of falling down the stairs than without one.

Thanks everyone.
