Where do I get old slides digitised?

We have some of my pils' slides which we need to get digitised so we can put them on our pc. Does anyone know if you can get this done at Boots, Jessops or any of the other high street photo shops or do you have to send them off to be done?
thanks very much

have just done all this! The lowest price I couldfind on the high street was about 70p per slide which was a lot bearing in mind we had about 200.

In the end, we bought a new scanner that included a slide scanner. Sorry but can't remember how much it was but it was cheaper than getting them all done individually.

My mum has a machine that does it. Have no idea how much ot was but she is very pleased with it

How many slides are you talking? Are there negatives as well?

Depending on how many you've got and what quality you want them scanned at, you may well be better off getting a scanner and doing it yourself - you can get a film/slide scanner from Jessops for not much over £100, although I haven't got a clue what kind of quality that is.

Doing a quick google for "slide scan", I found someone offering a service for 30p/image here - never heard of them, though, so you might want to do some digging before sending off irreplacable material.

thanks everyone for your replies - we've only got a handful to do as it's for a digital slide show at his 60th birthday so not worth investing in a slide scanner.

Hi they are selling a machine to do this in our local nettos for £29.99.

I had 600 done at the place on tangle's link. They were very obliging and let me drop them off personally and pick up - on a Sunday too. They were definitely the cheapest and only took two weeks. They all came out dark though and when I uploaded them onto a Bonusprint album I had to do lots of fiddling with the brightness and contrast to get them just right. So - maybe you get what you pay for IYSWIM

where do you live maxmissie? Perhaps, if it's only a few, someone will be able to help out?
