I need to get another highchair as DS is not ready to move out of his, and DD need one. I dont want to sepnd too much, but have seen this one in the TESCO Direct catalogue. Does anyone have one, and if so, what do you think? Would you recommend it?

If it is the one that folds into itself, we have one and it is great...

Easy to clean, straps are easy to fix and folds away (we have a very small house)

The only issue is that sometimes the harness lock/clip gets full of food that has been dropped and can get clogged up and grubby ..

For the price, wer used this for both our children and it was fine

If you're anywhere near an Ikea the best buy i ever made was their antilop high chair, Had a chicco polly and as dd1 got bigger food got everywhere the ikea one just wipes doen so easily and doesn't stain.....

My mum has one that has been used for all three of my children(oldest 5.5) and is still going strong. It folds up to nothing so great for small spaces and lack of storage. It is ridiculously easy to fold and unfold.

My mum does complain that it is fiddly to clean(lots of nooks and crannies due to the folding mechanism) but you can completely strip it of cushions and harness and bung them in the wash.

The Ikea Antilop would probably be an idea solution. It's cheap, easy to clean and super practical. Here's a picture of it with the tray on.

We've the cossatto foldy-up one. I've loved it for the fact it hides behind our kitchen door taking up no space.

I haven't loved it for the small tray that many plates don't fit on and the sloping back which meant dd was sloughing down for a long time.

But the minimalistic folding and one-handed operation has us firmly in the 'yes' camp overall.

I have an Antilop but I always think its a bit uncomfortable?

Nah - dd loved her Antilop. They don't get as uncomfortable as adults, I reckon. And nappies offer a fair amount of padding anyway.

lecohen · 26/02/2009 22:35

I just got the antilop as well - I do agree that it is great in many respects BUT if you have a little monkey of a child like my dd, it can be dangerous...my dd climbs up and stands on it when she wants to get down which means there is NO WAY I can leave her unattended - not even for a minute.

I had a Kuster which I recently sold as was too bulky in my kitchen but it was waaaaaay better and safer....My dd could easily get in and out and was very comfy in it.

I did look at the Cossatto and think it's really smart but only pain is tray is not removable and lots of crevices too.

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 27/02/2009 14:26

Lecohen I've taken off the lap belt and dd now has reins (long strap around the legs) which we use instead. But I felt it was a small price to pay for a £9 chair which is fab in every other respect. And it definitely stops her climbing (and she is a monkey for climbing!)

lecohen · 27/02/2009 18:11

Thanks for that, I'll try that maybe

tinkislittlemissshopping · 27/02/2009 18:24

Horrific terrible highchair, so so hard to clean, makes me want to vomit every time I find yet another space where food has collected. The seat cover splits and lets food get at the foam and go mouldy and it is at a stupid reaclined angle. Never have I been happier to throw something out (after 3 years, when I make a mistake, I stick with it!)....hated it. Love my Antilop.
