says it all really, how do you carry baby stuff when using a sling!

rucksack is easiest, although I avoid having a huge heavy bag when slinging

It's a nightmare isn't it!? I rotate between 2 bags atm. I have this for when I am popping out quickly and don't need to take much, just wear it across body and put the sling on over the top (I have a wrap sling btw) and if I am out for longer I take my SkipHop changing Bag. It's the only bag I have found that's big enough for ds's cloth nappies and dd's various bits of crap very important stuff that will stay on when I only wear it over one shoulder.

I have a Mommy Kecci bag that works great with a back carry. You can wear it messenger style or as a rucksac.

I'd like an Onbag but can't justify it

We have an ERGO, and you can buy a bag attachment/bum bag thing that attaches, but also has a strap for when you aren't using the sling.

If out for a while and need more stuff I'll take a back pack as well.

thanks for all the replies, i think i could almost do with a messenger bag that has satchel straps so i can use for both ppushchair and sling!

I have long wrestled with this problem and as I use both a didymos sling and a pushchair, it's a tricky one. Anyway, my DH bought this for me as a special present www.orlakiely.com/uk.cfm/bags/etc/S9EMCR-045/9826/_/ is not only gorgeous, it's wipe clean too!

I have the Ergo backpack but have never used it attached to the Ergo in a back carry as it's impossible to get on that way. It's quite a good bag, though, apart from not being waterproof.

DS isn't being worn any more but used to have a pretie wrap or the Ergo on the front.

I also carried a couple of canvas bags (bookstart type ones) for putting extra things in and wearing over one shoulder. Had to grit my teeth for six pints of milk and a shedload of library books but could just about manage it so long as I was well balanced. I have a bad neck and shoulders so I had to be careful but babywearing does improve your core stability IME.

The Onbag site has a free DIY pattern/instructions so you can make your own.

I have tried a few bags but the best has been from www.theoldbagcompany.com. It has a really long strap so you can wear it over one shoulder or two and hang from a buggy. When I found it in a shop - I said 'this must have been designed by a mother' and when I looked them up found that I was right. It stands up well so is good for delving around in, has good pockets and a mat.
If I am not taking much I just cram a nappy into my big handbag.
