Has anyone used these? How do you find it?

What is it?

A towel?

comparethePeachydotcom · 13/02/2009 20:26

I bought one

TBH not as good as I hoped.Shamereally- not very absorbent and morefiddly than just laying towelon knees and popping baby on it after bath.

Expensive too.

elk4baby · 16/02/2009 11:44

boysarelikedogs, yes it's a towel (apron style) with the bottom edge shaped like a hood. allows you to have both hands free to pick up and wrap the baby after bath.

comparethepeachydotcom, thanks for your tip. very surprised you didn't find it very absorbent. i thought it being cotton, it would be great in that respect.

waste of cash IMO

carrotsandpeasifyouplease · 16/02/2009 13:01

mine is great, we have used it all year with my baby and my DH particularly likes it because he wouldn't be great at co-ordinating stuff like towel / baby out of bath.
mine is really absorbent and soft.
my only complaint now is it is too small but agreed they are expensive when you can just use a normal towel.

Vinegar · 16/02/2009 13:04

I bought both the cuddledry and clevamama towels from "the cute age"(very good service btw). I love them both, especially good when it's cold, as dd is always snuggly and warm in it. I actually prefer the clevamama towel,as it is thinner, it is also cheaper. Dh is always going on about me buying products we don't need, but he loves these towels too.

Coldtits · 16/02/2009 13:08

Put a towel on the floor and lift baby straight from bath into towel. 1 second with neither warm water or a towel will not damage your baby.

Vinegar · 16/02/2009 13:20

It's not a necessity(very few things are though, ofcourse a large towel will do. However, in my opinion it is worth it and helps protect your clothes from getting wet too.

MrsBadger · 16/02/2009 14:03

a bit of bathwater of course being the worst thing that will happen to your clothes in the course of a day with a newborn...

Kathyis6incheshigh · 16/02/2009 14:06

I hold the towel under my chin, thus leaving my hands free.

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 16/02/2009 14:11

Ok how does wearing a towel as an apron make lifting a baby out of the bath easier?
I am trying to picture this. I personally lift the baby out of the bath using 2 hands put him on the (adult) towel on the floor next to me and then wrap him up and using 2 hands pick him up again (I have a porker). If you have taken the baby out of the bath using 2 hands and you are wearing the towel as an apron how do you wrap the towel round the baby?

MrsBadger · 16/02/2009 14:23

I assumed you wore towel as apron, lifted baby then sat down on loo placing baby in ready-towelled lap

once they can stand up in the bath it is much easier as you just grab them straight itno the towel under their armpits (iyswim)

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 16/02/2009 14:24

ah but that would be bathroomist, not all bathrooms have toilets in them MrsBadger.

MrsBadger · 16/02/2009 14:47

wtf do you sit to dry the baby then?

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 16/02/2009 14:50

well I carry him to his room which is approximately 5 steps away from the bathroom whilst wrapped snuggly in his towel and dry him on the changing table in there.

Vinegar · 16/02/2009 17:12

No getting a bit of water on me is not the worst thing that can happen Mrs Badger. Like I said before nothing wrong with using a large towel-that's what I did for dd1. Bought these to try for dd2 and I do find them very useful and glad I bought them, dh and I prefer using them to normal towels. I'm not saying everyone should use them, but the OP wanted to know if anyone had used them and what they thought.

onadietcokebreak · 16/02/2009 23:20

I too was disappointed with mine. Would spend your money on a couple of decent towels that will last years

carrotsandpeasifyouplease · 17/02/2009 08:30

Some of you would be appalled (as am I now) at some of the things I wasted my money on when pregnant for baby, that was definately one of the best.
