Out n About Nipper vs Phil & Teds

I think I've decided that I will need a double buggy for when DC2 is born (DS will be 2.2 and can't be relied on to co-operate with a buggy board!).

Top contenders at the moment are the Nipper and a P&T. My concern with the P&T is that the baby might outgrow the cocoon bit before they can sit in the seat (my friend's DS is 8 weeks and already outgrown it).

But then the Nipper is wider and could be more of a faff getting around, particularly if I've only got one of the DC in it...

Opinions welcome please!

I had the nipper and it's nowhere near as wide as you think it will be. Although it's wide at the top it kind of tapers down towards the front wheel. I'd say it's about 1 1/2 width of a normal pushchair.

My two absolutely loved it, it was really sociable for them to be next to each other. It wheeled around smoothly, folded up easily and felt light but still substantial.

I think the front wheel may have changed since I had it, mine was fixed but I believe it can now rotate?

I'm going a bit misty-eyed thinking about it now, I miss that stage of my ds1 and ds2 so much!!!!

Never had a p and t but I know many people have had them and very very happy.

Sorry I just thought of two disadvantages - probably useless if you need to use buses (I never did, used to love walking miles and miles with mine); also unlike the p and t you look a bit strange if you regularly have to wheel only one child around.

I don't use buses -- lucky to live within walking distance of parks, shops etc and have the car for longer journeys. So that's not too much of an issue.

Most of the time I will have both DC with me, apart from the mornings when DS is at nursery. Will still keep my Maclaren single as well.

My DS was 10lbs 9oz and off the scales for length but lasted in the cocoon for about 9 weeks then just laid in the flat bit without the cocoon (with fleece blanket or sheepskin) til 4.5 months then went into the rear seat which now reclines - he loved it and was comfortable.

I'd probably try to get a secondhand cocoon cos they don't last long - or you can easily sell it on.

I think the P&T is fab and would've kept it as a single if I didn't already have a Mountain Buggy 3wheeler.

I am a nanny and have the nipper!! it is fantastic!! i ahve never found a problem with it - not yet found a door when out that it can't fit through, both very comfortable in it and sleep well, so so light to push - we have buggy snuggles in it which they lvoe rather than cosy toes as when they fall asleep can pull the buggy snuggle up to their chins! it is fab!!!

Love the Nipper, can now fit all 3 on it, 2 side by side and Ds1 sitting on the front, and it is still pushable!
