Has anyone sold their car via "webuyanycar.com" or a similar type web dealer?

DH has a new job with a company car and we need to sell his old car.

We have had a couple of quotes from online buyers which are dependant on physical and mechanical inspections.

I'm just wondering if anyone has done this before and how much the online valuation varied from the final offer (ie are they shysters who give a good online price to reel you in and then say your car is a heap of junk to get it for as little as possible?)

I rang about a bike once, they were going to offer less than half the market value - don't do it unless you're desperate.

We've booked it in for them to have a look at it next Saturday. They are already offering half what one would pay if buying one from a dealer, but tbh we don't want to have the hassle of advertising it ourselves. And as it has been paid for out of DH's car allowance over the last few years it hasn't cost us anything iyswim so anything we make is a profit.

Have you looked at the whatcar valuation guide? (go to the what car website then valuation). It gives you dealer/part exchange/private sale/trade figures based on car/mileage. We took a print out with us when we went car haggling I mean shopping today! Was very useful I have to say.

I suspect the problem is that they are going to be taking a risk on buying cars - and because it isn't a p/ex there is no trade-off profit - so they factor that in to the offer. Also, they know none of us like selling cars ourselves.

thanks I'll have a look at that

I suggested ebay but DH not keen. I know a few people who have bought them on ebay though and they have been fine cars.

depending on how much you are selling it for, the best thing to do, around our area anyway, is park it in a busy car park (tesco) with a sign in the window, they usually go quite quickly.

I had a quote from Webuyanycar. Took my car over there & they complained the paintwork had faded... it's a white car FFS. They wanted to knock the price down even further. So I'd say best avoided IMO
