Ridiculous M & S

I am trying to find a tracksuit or just jogging bottoms that have elasticated ankles. My DS is too small for normal size 3-4 tracksuit trousers, they trail on the floor and trip him up. But they are so easy for him to pull down when using the potty/nursery toilet.

I visited M and S today and, on enquiring, was told neither M and S, Next or Zara make them anymore because of health and safety concerns?!! Is this not just ridiculous....what possible injury could come from elastic round your ankles? I was mad.

(Share your elasticated ankle injury stories here please.)

Anyway can anyone help with a shop that sells these? (his last pair came fron Ladybird at Woolies, they were fleecy and warm, come back soon please sob)

twinklytoes · 08/02/2009 04:12

Yorkshiremum · 08/02/2009 04:40

I saw some in Next the other day - have found these on the website:

Could you not just buy some elastic and thread it inside the bottom hem?

You don't even have to sew, just undo a couple of stitches, thread elastic through and the tie the ends together.

Flightattendant12 · 08/02/2009 06:31

Yes the demise of Woolies has left us tracksuit bottomless as well

Ds used to live in them, he was so fat and had real nappies. But they are great for skinny ds2 as well. Really comfy.

The only places I can recommend now are online - placs like Additions do two-packs in their value stuff, as do La Redoute and Vertbaudet - you have to catch them when they have them though as not always available.

They are our new suppliers.

bookswapper · 08/02/2009 21:39

superloopy - I would have bought the elastic from Woolies as well!

I will try to get to Next tomorrow to have a look...I want cosy ones with fleecy insides.

I think asda is worth a try too

n5rje · 08/02/2009 22:03

Do you have a Sportsworld/Sports direct ? They always have loads of tracksuits with elasticated bottoms although I'm not sure about the smaller sizes but if there's one near you it might be worth a look as they're always cheap otherwise I know I've had them from Tesco in the past.

Tommy · 08/02/2009 22:07

was going to say Primark too - got some for DS1 there. I'm pretty sure Tesco or Asda would do something like that

tibradden · 09/02/2009 17:01

Seen these in grey and red at H M today and quite reasonable. My fella wont wear them cos they hurt his ankles, poor baby!!!

JanieK · 13/02/2009 13:38

I got tesco value navy ones with elasticated bottoms (£2?) and primark had them too.

claireybrations · 13/02/2009 13:41

Saw some in Matalan this week

crokky · 13/02/2009 13:42

DS has some fleecy navy blue tracksuit bottoms - elasticated waist and ankles. they are from babygap, but I think they might be a tiny bit out of season? other thing with babygap, the main reason I get DS's trousers there, is that they are very slim fitting - my DS is very tall and skinny and ususally in other places, if the trousers are long enough for him, they just fall down off his waist.

ABetaDad · 13/02/2009 13:57

Most good specilist school outfitters have blue ones made of heavy sweatshirt type material type with elasticated waist and ankles.

There is usually one in every town that is used by the private schools.

bookswapper · 14/02/2009 22:54

All good tips

Am sending my mum across the bridge to primark and possibly Matalan

Cant find anything in Tesco, mine doesnt seem to stock the value range

Will try JJB Sports (thats all we seem to have and a private schoolshop - no will RING the school shop first, I expect to be called modom at least)
