Travel Cots - advice please!

Hello,
We're going on holiday with our (by then) five month old son. We are flying and need something really portable, but I don't want to buy something that he's going to grow out of instantly... We'd like to carry on using it for at least another few months, ideally longer.
So what are your recommendations for a travel cot that balances weight/portability/comfort and that he won't grow out of too quickly!
Thanks for advice.

Belinda

where are you going? Can you not arrange for a cot in the room of wherever you will be staying? We have never taken a travel cot on holiday with us.

baby dux travel crib This has been a lifesaver for the first nine months of our dcs lives. they have even preferred this to a moses basket. can only use till baby can pull theirselves to their knees, so on average around 9mths.

I would recommend the samsonite pop up as linked by LibrasJustice. However just so you know because of the way the matress bit fits on I think it's best to have a sleeping bag with it rather than sheets and blanket. We have found it invaluable and it's so light weight and small in it's travel state and once you get the knack of twist folding it's really easy and having a zip up mesh side means you don't have to worry about baby rolling out. It easily works for upto 18 months too.

I agree with Samsonara about the sleeping bag, there is no way to wash the mattress or the mattress cover so if you have a baby prone to being sick or very wet poos (i.e. leakage) you have to be careful it doesn't soak into the mattress! What we have done is buy a piece of fleece and a piece of waterproof material, cut them to mattress size and sewn them together. We place this underneath our LO.
