Question re: Are you using an Arms Reach bedside cot? A question for you!

If your using the Arms Reach can you answer this question for me. Just looking at the photos, it seems the cot side does not drop completely down therefore mattress is not 100% flush with your own, but slightly lower. Does that mean you can't really pull your baby to you from one mattress to another without having to lift it over the small upstand that the dropped side creates? If so, it seems to defeat the purpose of a bedside cot. I'm having a c-section so am keen to avoid any unnecessary lifting etc.

Cheers!

yup, that's true. I bought a separate new mattress from ebay (custom sized) which raised it a lot (their mattress seems hideously flat and uncomfortable too).

Think you can buy cheaper bedside cots that are flush to the side tbh (mine was the mini one).

We have a mothercare one which was £180 but has 8 height settings and the side folds completely down underneath.

We bought a cheap Ikea one and drilled holes to make the mattress at the right height. Also used cable ties at the sides to keep the base in place as it is not one that has a drop-down side and we just left one side off... Works really well!
