Sports bra

Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent sports bra that doesn't cost the earth - it is for reasonably largish boobs though (42D) so not everywhere will have them available. Thanks in advance

I have about 6 sports bras - some in need of the dustbin but I have to say the nike ones that just go over your head are the best - they are about £20/£25 - I have tried the Next £14.99 one and other than being about 3 sizes too small even though they are meant to be tight (I bought the size I wear in regular bras!) - it severley restricts your breathing and a straight jacket would be easier to get out of!

Shock Absorber - the best you can get IMHO!

I like front fastening sports bras. I was a 42D and I'm a 40E now, so similar size to you. The two I have are Anita (which has great straps that you can adjust while you are wearing the bra) and Enell. The Enell bra is very firm hold, nothing at all moves when I wear it but it's more solid and a bit tight and sweaty. The Anita bra is very comfortable and fine for gym stuff, but I probably wouldn't run in it.

Have a look at Sheactive site, they sell a full range for sports bras - and good advice too.
Shock Absorber are my recomendation too

I like Shock Absorber, they do very good ones, with different levels of protection - suitable for different nork sizes and activity levels.

The best I had pre-pregnancy was by Enell but they are pricey (I bought from here). I wanted something cheaper until my size has stabilised post baby so bought a Shock Absorber bra in their sale (random pink colour) and am pretty pleased with it

i got a freya one which is v good but, beware if you are on last hook - the bit of fabric which goes underneath isn't long enough and the hooks made holes in my back. actually this is worth checking on any sports bra.

TooMuchTV - how did you take your Enell bra off? I used to really struggle to take it off the way you take off a jacket because it's such a close fit, now I take it off cross-armed (hands to opposite corners of the front fastening strips, raise hands over head). The first time I tried it on I thought I was going to have to wait until DH got home to get it off.

What exercise are you going to be doing Seona?

NotQuiteCockney · 29/01/2009 15:02

You really need to try them on, I'm afraid. Once you know which brand/model suits you, you can buy online, but it's really not worth it to buy bras online until you know the brand.

Shock absorbers are great, I use it when I go horse riding, it provides the best support.

Seona1973 · 29/01/2009 16:05

gym and aerobics so I will need good support for aerobics especially. Are M and S ones any good?

I've never tried M&S sports bras, but their ordinary bras are a pretty bad fit so I wouldn't be hopeful. You could try them and see how they fit.
