Rear facing double buggy...

I have looked through previous comments on these...am looking at Emmaljunga Twin Cerox 360 (seems hideously expensive) or maybe a First Wheels City Twin. Will be used for 8 mo baby and 2 3/4 ds, for pushing up hill on school run. Storage not a problem and won't need to fold it for car (will live in house as ds walks everywhere except on sister's school run!) Does anyone have either of these please?

I have the Emmaljunga twin city (I think that's it's name!). I bought it off ebay for well under £100 and it was in excellent condition. It is a gorgeous pram and very comfy for the children I push in it (I'm a cm). They don't seem to sell for much on ebay so it might be worth you looking there.

I had the first wheels when ds2 was born so I had a newborn and 16mo in it and I used it until dd was about 2 1/2 and was happy to go on the buggy board.

What I will say is that it is very heavy, even without dcs in it. I would guess that having a 2 3/4yo in one side would make it extremely hard to push and very tricky to get up and down kerbs. The small front wheels bend in a weird way if the kerb is to high and you have to get all your weight on the back to sort it. Dd and ds2 aren't particularly large or heavy chidren and it was hard work pushing it up more than a slight slope.

The seats aren't particularly wide either, dd looked quite squashed it hers, especially when she was bundled up in a winter coat.

They are also very expensive to buy new (£400+ when I bought mine) although I don't know what they go for on ebay/secondhand.

Do you really need a double? Would a buggyboard or seat to go or one of those bike-type attachments work be better?

where are you louloubelle? I have an emmaljunga twin city (I think!) if you want it let me know

mogs0 · 29/01/2009 20:50

duckyfuzz - do you have the duolift carrycots? I'm thinking about getting one for mine but it's not for a newborn and I'm not sure how roomy they are.

duckyfuzz · 29/01/2009 20:53

no I had a twin carrycot wth mine, sorry

duckyfuzz · 29/01/2009 20:54

Actually, I say carrycot, but it never got carried with any babies in it!

mogs0 · 29/01/2009 20:55

ah, ok. I think I'm going to have to venture into a rl shop and look at them!!

I'm in Putney. It's the rear facing bit I really want, (does yours do that duckyfuzz?)so the children can talk to me. Buggy board is fine usually, or he walks, it's just walking up the hill to get to my daughter's school that is too much for him!

Hey ladies, any more on this? I am looking at the Emmaljunga twin cerox 360 and am very confused about the duolift/carrycot aspect. I want it for a 15m and a new born and I am in a hot cimate so don't want much padding around either child. Can anyone help me? thanks.
