Plastic plates and bowls for children - Where to buy?

TartanPussyCat · 28/01/2009 18:52

Just to clarify I am not looking for the 'weaning' stuff but just bog-standard kids everyday plates etc. Am at a bit of a loss to know where to look since Woolies shut!

TIA

Ikea
Tesco (have some rather fun Mr Men ones at the moment for £1 an item) and other supermarkets
Cath Kidston (if you want posh !)

procrastinatingparent · 28/01/2009 18:55

I just bought the Mr Men/Little Miss ones this evening - some of the few I have found that say they can go in the dishwasher.

TartanPussyCat · 28/01/2009 18:55

Tesco's - of course! (D'oh)

Will steer clear of the Cath Kidston ones though lol, thanks Wheely!

I am looking for these too. I don't want to pay a fortune on 'branded' plates, just bog standard plastic plates, like what you get in a picnic set...

Ikea is the only place I can think of (until the summer and then everuone stock them. Trouble is, I spend a fortune when I go to Ikea and there isn't one for about 20 miles from me.

KatyMac · 28/01/2009 18:56

I had the bright primary coloured ones from Ikea - but the new ones are not right - the bowls are so big

ramonaquimby · 28/01/2009 18:57

Habitat had some great melamine ones in their sale just after xmas, I missed the boat though - the Ikea ones are cheap, but they scratch and mark easily (plates really not the cups and bowls) so I"m after something a bit more hard wearing. Sometimes the pound shops have decent ones too

JODIEhadtoomanymincepies · 28/01/2009 18:58

Oh yes. Might try the pound shop next time I'm in town. I usually steer clear of them as DS1 touches everything!

TartanPussyCat · 28/01/2009 19:03

Yes Ikea is dangerous... My closest one is about 50 miles away though, so rarely get there. Will def check Tesco's tomorrow..
Thanks all!

We bulk-bought from Ikea

Pannacotta · 28/01/2009 19:42

Habitat have the nicest IMO but yes you need to catch them in teh sale...

cmotdibbler · 28/01/2009 19:44

Our pound shop has them, and we got some nice ones from Wilkinsons before

pinkspottywellies · 28/01/2009 19:45

I got some from Lidl but they tend to have things for a while and then not have them again.

ANTagony · 28/01/2009 19:47

I got some Asda ones - microwave and dishwasher safe. I'd been looking for a while and these work well for me because they're a soup bowl shape so you can get loads in the plate racks for the dishwasher.

chocoholic · 28/01/2009 19:50

I got some from Boots which seem to be indistructable.
