Best place for large quantity of Play Sand?

It must be available in bigger bags than the ones in Tescos. It's not on the B&Q website but I assume they do bigger bags of the stuff.

Any suggestions?

Soupy, that's really not very funny. Go and stand outside the door.

Now. Please.

It was there when we moved in It was fab, with a waterfall and everything, but we are such usless parents we wanted our kids to be able to play in the garden unsupervised and we couldn't see the pond form the window, so we made it a sandpit Pure laziness really

Now they can swim we want the pond again

4 X 4 is pretty large... maybe they could have a decent (smaller) sandpit and you could make a small, but useful wildlife pool for them to learn from ?

Get them the Tchibo sand pit Needs less sand than a 4 x 4 pond I think.

Hope you stubbed your toe and that it hurt. Petulant Dragon.

hub2dee that have played in it once or twice in 4 years!! hardly worth it really They love their play house, climbing frame, slide and watering plants. Also the paddling pool. They did ask if they wanted to swim in the pool, could we take the fish out first !!!

bossykate · 07/04/2005 08:33

i'm sorry, what was the consensus on the best place to get the sand? thanks

SoupDragon · 07/04/2005 09:24

Builder's merchant (silver sand), Travis Perkins or possibly a garden centre. I think.

Saudi Arabia.

SoupDragon · 07/04/2005 10:07

Good plan. Might get your hands chopped off for stealing it though.

Actually, they have (or had ?) sand deficit / granular size / quality issues... meant they had to import the stuff !!!!

Here . Search 'importing sand'.

Unbelievable.

Soupy: I answered your question in sandpit hell on t'other thread...

SoupDragon · 07/04/2005 10:16

pmsl at the thought of a sand shortage. And at the fact that you searched the info out actually.

I regularly have Travis Perkins deliver me sacks of their Playpit Sand. It's about £3ish a bag (think it's 25kg). I normally have 4 at a time for my 'playgroup style' sand box (on of those on legs). Put 3 in, and keep 1 for topping up. It's lovely sand, like soft brown sugar! Just need to add water occasionally.
