Please talk to me about nice PENS

I was given a pen for Christmas. I like the idea of a pen I can reuse rather than ditch, but it's deeply disappointing as it writes in a very scratchy way and doesn't feel at all good to hold.

Our stationery cupboard is well stocked with Pilot pens, which I love - particularly the gel ones. Is there anything similar (rollerball, very smooth action, ideally quite a broad tip) that is refillable out there?

Good lord I was sure the title said PENIS

all pens are good pens [drool at the stationery porn]

I had a brilliant fountain pen (I think it was WHSmith own) but they all get leaky in the end. I now only use a black fineliner pens (I stock up wholesale off ebay) they make your writing look beautiful.

Depends on your budget..?!
Parker are refillable..so are Mont Blanc...

I love my Mont Blanc pens, they are nice any weighty and smooth to write with,

Do you mean fountain pens? Or ballpoint?

I really love fountain pens. If you mind them being scratchy - you want a medium nib, rather than a fine one.

I've used a wide range of brands. Parker are ok, but Rotring or Lamy are better. Lamy do some quite inexpensive pens that are very good.

(I only used bottled inks by Herbin, but that's a whole other obsession.)

And obviously different pens will feel good in different people's hands - worth going to a proper pen store and trying out a few.

(I find Rotring and Lamy pens are durable and don't leak. Unlike every other brand I've tried. To be fair I've not tried Montblanc because they're so expensive, and generally made out of plastic.)

Agree with going to a decent pen shop/counter and trying some out. I have a Mont Blanc roller ball that DH gave me for a birthday present about 15 years ago. It's still going strong, feels nice in my hand and gives me a little warm glow whenever I look at it Oh, and it's made of metal

No idea how much he paid - probably quite a lot - but I'm sure it was worth it.

For ball point pens I find that the black bics make my handwriting always look good, but agree different pens work for different people. There is a good shop called Websters pen shop, I've been to the Bluewater Shopping centre one, there are other branches and online shopping as well
