IS there anything nice and warm I can tie to my 5 month old's freezy feet?

He kicks off his socks and all those daft shoe things last about 3 seconds - I can't bear cold feet and don't want him having them!

I'm almost inspired to knit bootees or sommat that I can actually tie on, but can anyone recommend something a bit less labour intensive? I probably wouldn't get them knitted until June...

Put him in tights ?

hannahlouhoo · 20/01/2009 15:26

Tights are the way to go! cheap just navy ones? my ds wears them under everything now!!!

GiraffeAHolic · 20/01/2009 15:27

these any good?

mrsleroyjethrogibbs · 20/01/2009 15:36

what about those soft leather shoes like robeez or daisyroots etc.
That or putting babylegs on top of his socks. they should hold his socks in place
If not ebay have tie on bootees

blowninonabreeze · 20/01/2009 15:39

I'd defy him to manage to get robeez off. Having extensively tried all those sorts of shoes, with 2 very similar DDs, neither of them have managed to get robeez off.

Best socks for staying put IMO are GAP

belgo · 20/01/2009 15:40

yes grey or navy tights, and bobux shoes (expensive though)

bohemianbint · 20/01/2009 15:48

good ideas, thanks! Will try. But nothing shoe-y to be had then?

Inch blue worked for keeping DS's socks on.

The Babylegs over the socks is a good idea too

mejon · 20/01/2009 15:58

I second the Robeez suggestion. DD has been wearing these since around 6 months old and they were impossible to get off. Prior to that she would have been in tights or soft trousers with built-in feet like babygrows (Jojomamanbebe do nice twin packs and Mothercare have lovely velour ones). Some of the soft leather shoes you can get (Shoo-Shoos in particluar) seem to have quite loose elastic in them but Robeez are snug (but not too tight). She still wears them at 2.5 and can now get them off but at least she can get her socks back on herself.

I bought a lovely pair of soft lippes from Adams. They look like stripey mocassins but have the added bonus of socks attached with a soft suede sole. Kind of like totes but for babies. They stay on well and only cost about £4. DS loves them

annasharl · 20/01/2009 16:08

sorry above entry should have said "slippers" not lippes

dustbuster · 20/01/2009 16:10

Paidriag slippers are amazing:

The only thing I have been able to keep on DD's feet. They are so lovely and snuggly that I have had to get a pair for myself too!

nicolamumof3 · 20/01/2009 16:23

recommend what annasharl says too, really cosy and you can get them in boots too (minimode)

bohemianbint · 20/01/2009 16:36

those padraig slippers are gorgeous - I want some for me now!

Also loving the Robeez ones, but times being as they are I think might have to stick to Adams finest! Thank you for all the links!

these are really good alternative to robeez?

bohemianbint · 20/01/2009 16:53

Funkyfeet are good for staying on. They cost a lot (about £17) new, but I have found new pairs for 1/3 the cost on ebay. They are also v cute. Esp the sheep.

hettie · 21/01/2009 09:32

the padraig ones are horribly expensive but great- you can buy them much bigger so that they last for ages, but they still stay on. DS had a pair from 6 months to about 14 months. Brill- only thing that didn't come off and very cute!
