Just referring back to my shops comment, does the double urban fit on an escalator? DD (7) is scared of lifts . The one I hav just bought is an older one, I am assuming I can't fit a bumper bar to that? Do you think a MB headhugger is beneficial for a newborn, rather than straight in the seat? Its one of these

pushchair · 18/01/2009 12:03

Saw a post on another thread suggesting P&T cocoon would be great for a newborn in a mountain buggy. I had one and can recommend them.

I havent ever tried my mb double on an escalator, im not sure it would fit I had a carrycot for my double and dd4 (12 weeks) has just gone into a seat, i have put a big fluffy buggle snuggle in to pad it out and not bothered with a head hugger.

petrovia · 18/01/2009 13:13

I think I'd be tempted with the carrycot for a newborn, you can get a one sided cot and the other child has a seat as normal.

Would never take a buggy on an escalator personally!

I'm pretty sure the bumper would fit the older style as well - ring MBUK and ask. It just clips onto the sides of the frame iyswim.

suwoo · 18/01/2009 13:22

Apparently, you can't fit the carrycot on this old style one? I always go on the escalators, I'm a whizz. Too much practice!

4andnotout · 18/01/2009 13:28

I have the old terrain and put the new carrycot on it, i took one of the clips off and it fits perfectly.

cazzybabs · 18/01/2009 13:46

i have a MB urban and it is fab...no trouble in shops (although I can't get up the ramp in Borders to get to starbooks - phew says my waist ).

I wouldn't get anything elese...ours is 4 years old and done 2 children

CarGirl · 18/01/2009 13:48

I've got a MB bumper bar to sell if you decide to get one, dd is too tall for the MB now

petrovia · 18/01/2009 13:49

How old is dd, Cargirl? I'm trying to work out how long ds will be able to use his for.

CarGirl · 18/01/2009 13:59

She's a tall 3.5, but dd who is 5 also needs to get a lift in it and you can use the hood with her in it!

redrobin · 18/01/2009 14:14

fab fab fab, loved my single so much that i bought a double when DD2 arrived. carrycot for double is ace, the prams are so well made, i think they look fab and also keep their resale value pretty well. (htink i should be working for them!)

suwoo · 18/01/2009 14:15

Cargirl, will the bumper bar fit my one then? If so I may be interested, how much you after? 4andnotout, how do you do it? [email protected]

pushchair · 18/01/2009 14:17

I am interested in bumper bar too.

Suwoo take the fabric off the right hand side seat, the carrycot has grooves in the side for the metal bar to clip in, then clip the clip over the right hand side bar. Im not sure how old mine is, it is the one with non adjustable handle.

suwoo · 18/01/2009 14:35

Cool, yours is black isn't it IIRC? My pram is navy- shame. Thanks for that advice- I will consider one now. God knows where I'll put that in my clio, with the MB and the 3 kids .

4andnotout · 18/01/2009 15:09

yes mine is black Looks lovely with the pink angora & velour buggy snuggles. It is by far my favorite pram, i only paid £80 del for it and thought i'd only use it for offroading but i try to use it all the time, we only have a tiny people carrier tho' so its a bit cramped!

suwoo · 18/01/2009 15:17

Mine is blue as I said, but I have a 2 year old boy and reckon the baby is a boy too, so no pink snuggles for me . I have a 7 year old girl though- so we have our fair share of pink. Don't suppose you are up north 4? I want to try out a carrycot on it before I buy.

4andnotout · 18/01/2009 15:22

No, im in norfolk, i have 4 dd's, 7,3,15m,12w so plenty of pink here

no5 · 18/01/2009 15:25

i love jane slalom, was our first 3 wheeler.
we bought mountain buggy, because everyone on mumsnet talked about how good it was and etc... guess what we love our mountain buggy. its big but the best one so far.

suwoo · 18/01/2009 15:55

The thing I am loving about the MB the most (although I haven't actually used it yet) is the way it just pops up and down- tis a breeze compared to my bugaboo. It actually takes up very little space too whilst folded. The real test will be when I take it into the city centre....

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/01/2009 20:32

Petrovia - we have 2 buckles too, but they move very easily, so have never thought of it as a problem. I tend to do one then the other rather than both at once most of the time.

I would get a sheepskin for putting a newborn in, as the MB is a bit big otherwise, and they can tend to look a bit lost in there!

petrovia · 19/01/2009 10:16

oh it's just me then!!
