dd2 is allergic to knicker elastic. i tried a pair of normal knickers on her today as it had been a while since we last tried, and again she came up in a angry red rash where the elastic was. i have found some from cotton comfort which dont seem to affect her, but cant afford £18 for 3 pairs. has anyone got anything similar, or know of a cheaper palce to get them. they are generally made for kids with eczema. we really do need them now as she is desperate to start potty training, atmn she is just running round naked, but we need them for when we go out or colder days.

someone else suggested boys pants. could be worth a go. but what about the extra room in them? and what about when she is older?

atm she is 2.5yrs old, so i'm sur ei can fob her off for a bit, but wont be able to forever.

Boys knickers aren't that much bigger and the pants sort come in primary colours, I hesitate to say....but could you ask your HV?

misdee · 01/04/2005 21:30

think i will have to ask my hv. do they do perscription knickers? i forgot to ask the family fund to help pay for them yesterday. i#my own fault.

petit bateau do pants with the elastic encased, IYKWIM. Not as expensive as £18 for 3 pairs...£8 for 2 pairs, I think...

Bikini bottoms? Not sure they'd be any cheaper, though you can get bikinis for 2 year olds, see?
There must be cheaper ones than these somewhere.

My ds is allergic to latex - thank goodness he is a boy and normal underpants are all fine. 4 pounds for a pair of pants - I feel for you.

BTW I wore ds's underpants after giving birth and they were SSOOOOOOOOOO comfy. Don't tell him though.

bobbybob · 01/04/2005 23:28

dh's underpants!

moondog · 01/04/2005 23:32

My sister regularly wears mens' underpants lol! Reckons they're far more comfortable than knickers. No idea what her dh thinks though, although mine was horrified when I told him!

Mind you, probably now look quite cool in a 70s retro hipster type of way...

sparklymieow · 01/04/2005 23:39

I have some knickers that look like mens pants, with supergirl on them, blue too, very comfortable and don't show when I have my hipster jeans on...

moondog · 01/04/2005 23:40

There ya go then!!!
