Games for a 4 year old please...

Can anyone recommend games that a 4 year old (girl) would like ?

DD loves games and I am desperately in need of ideas for grandma to buy her for her 4th birthday.

She has monopoly junior (a big hit), orchard games, various move round the board on throwing a dice type games. Anything different ?

Thanks

Dd1 (just 5) enjoys Frustration. She plays it with dh. I guess it is seen as quite an old fashioned game now.

For all those who recommended guess who ? - It has just occurred to me whether they have to be able to read well to play it as don't you have the say the name ? DD cna recognise letters no probs and is quite good at learning to recognise familiar words - do you think this is enough for her to be able to play it ok ?

Orchard Tots do a really good range of games & are good quality & decent prices. They do have a website & you should be able to find local stockists if you google them.

chocolateshoes · 14/01/2009 19:22

oops have just rereao op & you mention Orchard Games!!!! Oh well - at least I was on the right rtack!!!

littlerach · 14/01/2009 19:26

Dd2 played Guess Who when she was 3 and just needed a little help.

Operation
Frustration
Junor scrabble
Go Fish

Current fave - Hungry Caterpillar card game.
Both dds have played it almost every day since Christams.

DDs favourites when she was four included Cat and Mouse and Market Day. Cat and mouse is good because the mechanism is very simple, so children can play it with no adult help, but its a bit more than just a 'roll & move' game. Market Day is a bit more complex, but is less insanely boring for a grown up to join in with than some childrens games. She also likes Uno, but can't remember when she learned to play it (she's 6 now), snap, happy families etc.
I like the boardgamegeek website that the links above come from - lots of good reviews, lists of games etc for children and adults

Thank you ! That should be fine then. Might need a bit of help to begin with. That's one pressie dilemma sorted.
