Hi,
Was browsing on-line recently and came across the e-bay auction site. Has anyone sold or bought, I was a bit perturbed about giving my credit card details in order to register, or is this normal practice and safe? Any thoughts welcome. Thanks.

My best buy on Ebay was a complete set of 8 Toy Story 2 McDs toys for £7. These have kept my 2 boys amused on long flights and in restaurants and are worth their weight in gold!! I now need another set to avoid bickering over who gets Buzz though...

Bossykate!! Just flicked back from Ebay to Mumsnet and I'm totally shocked by your message! I guess I have been spending a teensy bit more time than usual on there, but I've been stuffed with more fee-earners to work for so no internet time at the office any more and I'm generally shattered when I get home! (You are such a tease ... !)

thanks for the info, bobbins. Will take a look on ebay when I can tear myself away from mumsnet.

SoupDragon - the Swedish Chef was just opened and tossed aside by my daughter! Aaargh, must snaffle these tops from her unopened in future!

Can anyone tell me,
If buying from ebay do you pay the seller before receiving the goods or after ?

Angiel · 31/03/2003 10:03

You pay the seller before you receive the goods normally. I have never had a problem with things not turning up before, I would check out a sellers feedback if you are worried.

Madie · 31/03/2003 11:03

Thanks - I thought as much

Yesterday on ebay I couldn't believe a tubby toast cutter and plate went for about £6 .... it was a freebie a couple of months ago in the Teletubbies magazine !

jodee · 31/03/2003 13:49

Hi SB34 - can I ask you where you get all your packaging from - brown paper, bubblewrap, etc? I haven't started selling yet but wanted to get a stock of packaging beforehand. Thanks!

bobbins, ha ha!! actually I have just been looking on ebay this morning for the first time, checking out the vintage clothes department.

I also need to buy my son an X-Box for his birthday. Seen the offers on ebay but am afraid to jump in with a bid - am I being too chicken? When people say their goods are 'as new' or 'only 2 months old' do you believe them?

Bobbins · 03/04/2003 14:41

tigermoth> its in the sellers interest to describe the items accurately, they rely on getting good feedback. You can check out all their feedback before you bid (I've started using Lotswipe too now also)It's good practice to mail the seller if you have any doubts at all. If they can't reassure you of quality then I wouldn't buy.

Apparently some bloke won an auction for a Rolex watch, paid quite a lot, when the goods arrived it was actually a picture of a rolex. This may be an urban myth. I really wouldn't let that put you off. Everything I've ever won has always been just as described.
