DH says these are the best LCD TVs to buy - we want to get one and are looking for a good bargain but must admit I was a bit surprised that there weren't many good deals in Currys today.

have you seen any good deals and would you suggest a different make?

Thanks

have a look in bennetts online as they had a cracking deal of a 32" viera for £349 inc 5 year guarantee

SlightlyMadScientist · 09/01/2009 20:12

sony Brravia are supposed to be good too....and I think there are offers around for these...

MaryBS · 09/01/2009 20:14

Which best buys are nearly all Panasonic Viera. We've just bought a plasma Panasonic Viera.

Take a look on avforums.com, they had a number of conversations about the panasonics a couple of weeks ago.

viera are supposed to be good as they are the only ones with 100mhz refresh rate (or something) therefore you get less blurring when watching sport etc

SlightlyMadScientist · 09/01/2009 20:17

hope this helps with the deals.

That website is teh best for deals on anything.

ok am now a bit stuck. Apart from the price what is the difference between HD ready and HD. Should I get HD? Will I need HD soon? Or will HD ready just become HD some day. I don't really know what any of it means - had you noticed!!

I think its to do with the number of lines on display. Our TV has 760 I think, a HD TV has 1080? But we were advised we were unlikely to tell the difference on the 2 sets we were looking at, and it certainly wasn't worth paying the extra £300!

chocolateshoes · 12/01/2009 19:39

agree Mary - the price difference is an awful lot.

Oooh, Panasonic are the only manufacturers to make a TV with built in freesat (which is High definition freeview) so definitely go for one of those if you can.

BTW 1080P is true HD(high definition), whereas anything else isn't, even though you'll still get a great picture in the HD ready TV's.

I would say a TV with built in freesat is going to be the most future proof you can buy at the moment.

fairydust · 13/01/2009 11:19

I disagree with not being able to tell the difference between a 750p and a 1080p we looked at loads of t'v when choosing ours same and different makes and the bigger the t/v you go for you do notice the difference in the pixels

chocolateshoes · 14/01/2009 20:01

thanks for those. Agree Panasonic is the way to go...good point re Freesat Jennie. Wanted freesat as will have no aerial in new house
