I got ds one when eh was 3 and he has the most comfy bed out of everyone. think it was about £90 from ebay and it is also guaranteed for 10yrs i think.

It'll be fine but get a good mattress protector for tummy bugs.

thanks nemo and oh you.

For some mad reason I thought memory foam where just for adults. Should I just buy a good normal one. medium/firm.

I'm bumping after dd told me last night while lying in bed that her hip hurt. Turns out the springs in her bed are trying to make a break for freedom!

So I'm asking the same question. 'cept I'm a bit wary of a memory foam for her, partly cos its a cabin bed and they are heavy to lift and partly because she seems to be developing a predilection towards nose bleeds and had a spectacular tummy bug recently. I'd like a mattress that can be flipped over if the worst comes to the worst and stuff gets through a mattress protector.

You just need a mattress topper (about an inch thick) Dunno about washing etc coz my kids are grown upish.
They are wonderful though. You have to air them off for 24hrs when you unpack them so I don't know what they are treated with but they don't aggrivate (sp) my allergies.

Would that cover up pokey springs? I have been considering it as an option.

lessonlearned · 16/01/2009 09:49

I think it might but depends just how pokey they are.

We went for a new one today. I had a look at dds old mattress and really it had completely had it. Thought we might as well catch the sales and we know a good shop where we got ours from.

Anyway, dd now has a new mattress sitting on her bed. We went for a memory foam in the end as she has a cabin bed and lots of the other (decent) mattresses were just too deep for it. We've got a reasonable mattress protector on it.

Was astonished that they had them in stock and that it came vacuum packed and rolled up so it just went in the boot!
